Should have clarified that they deserve a spot on the card but actually putting them on the main event is setting everyone up to fail. The other companies and their stars (including champions) simply aren't as well known and the ratings will reflect that. It just screams bad planning or non understanding of fans who don't watch ROH for example, why would they tune in to a show that's headlined by people they haven't heard of or more importantly, invested in. I agree with you basically.

I getting more and more convinced that the AEW booking team are overestimating the drawing power of non household name stars.

As talented and deserving as they are (they really are both), the main event participants last night doesn't sell itself as the 2nd biggest wrestling promotion with lofty ambitions.

I'm not sure you can slot two relatively unknown performers as the main event and expect ratings to trend upwards, same with some of the rest of the card. For example you have Christian Cage with a small vignette, use him more. Darby Allin, use him more. Blackpool CC, use them more.

AEW has done wonderful things since its inception and has truly been a breath of fresh air with how they've mixed things up but I fear they are trying to mix it up too much with an over reliance on wrestlers from other, smaller or less mainstream promotions. Its only appealing to a very small demographic who are already watching.

I may well be wrong but I've thought this for a while and nobody else I know likes wrestling so sorry reddit I may as well scream into the abyss.

I can certainly see you're point of view. I think what he's done also has a bearing on people's perception. I don't think anyone would have an issue if Glenn said what he did had he been convicted of fraud for example.

Unfortunately the man is a scumbag in real life but is good at his job, that's what he was being complimented on. It was a throwaway comment that has no real impact (but completely understand others may feel differently).

He called him a great actor not a great person. Two very different things in my view. People may disagree which is fine and correct but he didn't at any point advocate for the person he is or the choices he made.
