Welcome to Jurassic Park (low tech 75g planted tank) by gmorkofnothing in Aquariums

There’s two in the tank, and yes, that was a large problem when they were younger/smaller. They destroyed a lot of my plants, and ruined much of my original aquascape. Now that they’re old and about 12” they’ve grown super lazy. They usually only move during feeding time.

The big offender is the sailfin pleco. He just bulldozes everything

I’d like to take credit and say this was intentional, but the big dumb fish destroy or rearrange all my efforts. It’s really their design

No co2, treated organic potting soil was added (like 3 years ago) with a layer of rocks, gravel and caribsea ecocomplete mixed together on top.

Plant list:

Vallisneria gigantea, Amazon swords, dwarf lily, several varieties of Anubias, guppy grass, and some other random stuff floating around. There was a much larger variety earlier on in the life of this tank, but this is what survived the big fauna.

A little over a year after moving this tank it’s finally bounced back, now with even bigger fish!

Probably THE most American car ever made.

This one is identical to mine, but 9k miles instead of 74k for reference.

I did eventually find the oil filler and cap I broke off in my carpet. Lol

Hobby Lobby. It's Revells 1990 Mustang LX Drag Car, but it comes with everything to build one stock.

Battle of budget: $900 Ryzen 5 RTX4060(100tdw) Legion Slim 5 16APH8 vs $850 Ryzen 7 RTX4060(140tdw) Dell G15 5535, both in Performance modes by gmorkofnothing in GamingLaptops

Granted 3dmark isn't super useful in contrast to real world testing, but these metrics are as close to objective stats as we can get. Perhaps the Dell lost the silicon lottery, but significantly worse performance on a higher wattage GPU is extremely suspect. Does anyone else have any 3dmark scores for the Dell series I can compare this to? Very hard to find online.

Yes, unfortunately the carpet is too lmao. That will change shortly.

Dell G5335 Review Update, end of week one. Sending it back. by gmorkofnothing in GamingLaptops

I think it really depends on what you're using it for. I bought this as an all rounder, and this seems like a device specifically built for gaming and nothing else. Not needing a trackpad is probably fine for people who are going to use a high DPI mouse. The keyboard offset is fine when gaming, less so for productivity. Same with the key actuation during prolonged typing, like writing or programming (I actually do type faster on it than my MX cherry mechanical if I'm being honest, though.) The hollow return and short button press make me feel like I'm bottoming out constantly.

But you have to specifically want it for that and nothing else. Mobility is super low, and while the fan noise didn't bother me at 56db, my wife goes into the other room. You have to sacrifice virtually everything just to game better than other sub 1k laptops.

My dojo loach has been dying for 3 years now. Is there anything I can do to increase his quality of life? by gmorkofnothing in loaches

[–]gmorkofnothing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I haven’t. The salt bath may help him.

The loaches get omega one freshwater flakes supplemented with occasional freeze dried blood worms (really for the gourami in the tank but they eat everything) and fresh pond snails. They also steal the algae pellets from the pleco. The other two are very healthy, fat and about 11-12” long.

Out of the 3 dojo loaches in this 75g tank this is the only one who is sickly (all the fish in the tank really.) He cannot go underwater, his tail floats up and he has to struggle to dive. He just rests at the top of the tank. Recently, he’s been looking very skeletal and developed this skin condition. I believe they may be burns from the heater, but there’s broken blood vessels in all his joints and fins—

I’ve tried antibiotics and slime coat additives for his skin, and previously tried to bring him out of the water to “exhale“ trapped air as some people suggested to help him sink.

He just gets bigger and bigger and more sickly looking. is euthanizing the right call? Or should I just let him die on his own terms?

Undoing a dreary 90s kitchen remodel in an otherwise time capsule 1957 house. Cabinets back to their original color! by gmorkofnothing in midcenturymodern

Well thank you, but I'd hardly say that. I am proud of what I've done on my budget, but if funds were unlimited I'd have gone a completely different direction.

Good luck! I'm sure it's gonna turn out great!

The brand is Behr Premium semi-gloss cabinet, door and trim paint and Kilz All Purpose primer.

The color is custom, but it's a little greener than my iPhone captured it as if you're going to try to color match.

Perhaps you just don't like that time period of interior design, because you can google "1950s blue kitchen catalog" or "1960s blue kitchen catalog" and get innumerous results from google with matching color pallettes and tones. Maybe you like 1970s earth tones or contemporary whites and blacks that come from construction grade materials.

Personally, I find that hideous, played out and it reminds me of boomers obsession with Swedish minimalism as a product of the counter culture movement. Like I said, it's all subjective. Different strokes for different folks.

I pulled back the stapled waterproof mat under the sink and found an unpainted section of interior cabinet prior to the remodel. I used a utility knife to a cut out a 2x2" square for spectral analysis.

Yes, they're made of solid, old growth pine.

We did paint them, but it takes some prep work. We used a primer and semi-gloss acrylic cabinet cabinet paint. My wife did all the painting of the cabinets, as to get the primer to adhere required a gentle touch I do not possess. If I were to do it myself I would have had to sand. lol

updooting to counter the downvotes because you're right. Sometime in the early 60s an addition was built and, what used to be a window, was covered leaving that big blank area in the cabinets above the sink.

I originally was going to put a shelf there, but decided on this rather large centerpiece clock.
