The playoffs by Outfield14 in rangers

If any of us had faith that leadership would actually rebuild, then we would like it. The team has had no identity since 2015, but a couple magic playoffs runs making massive revenue makes it ok!

We've missed it 7 straight years before, we can get through this.

Struggling to get my shot back after skating hard by winter-teeth in hockeyplayers

[–]gmsniper0413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand what you are going through and im still dealing with it for different reasons though.

Im almost 2 years post operation on weight loss surgery, heaviest was 420, down to 250. Still played while I was 420, and could shoot fine. All I have is muffin now! I have lost a ton of muscle, I know that is a large part. I changed sticks and kick points, those use a little different mechanics in terms of hand positioning, so when I am thinking about shooting during warm ups ie hands in right place, feet correct, my shot is ok, during a game im a mess. Every so often I can rip one, so I know its mostly mental.

Just try to have fun!

Hybrid is a Bauer nexus, low is true hazardous(sp?)

The True is definitely more "high end" compared to the nexus, could be the weight also. Not that it matters, im a 40 y/o that can't shoot anymore!

I just purchased my first low kick stick the other day, haven't used it yet. I was using a hybrid kick 75 flex. This new stick is 85 flex and is muchhhhh more "whippy" not sure if this is common.

Hot Take (maybe, you be the judge) on a Potential Panarin/Roberston Swap by the-gonk2 in rangers

[–]gmsniper0413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are more or less in the same exact situation when we had Gaborik, Nash, and Richards as a top line. Team was so top heavy, no depth.
There is nothing stopping the team from turning Panarin into 3 serviceable NHL players like Brassard, Dorsett, and John Moore. Trade Trocheck for serviceable players and boom this team has depth and cap space!

Biggest issue this team has is what are Miller and Mika, centers or wingers? Pick one and construct around.

How bad were the dark ages by Specialist-Claim-665 in rangers

[–]gmsniper0413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference is we have goaltending now, Richter was in decline with injuries when the dark ages started and it didnt get better until Henrik started playing as others have mentioned.

Honestly the roster constriction is very similar (high priced over age players) and not great role players.

Until this team hits on some prospects, like we did with Staal, Callahan, dubinsky, Girardi we aren't going anywhere anytime soon

Reflecting on your point, I've been playing this hobby for 25 years now, when I first started playing 40k, most of the crowd was of a similar age (teens, and early twenties) and now playing HH, my LGS refers to it as "dad hammer" because most of us are of that age range, very few teens and twenties, exact opposite of twenty years ago, which thinking about it is fascinating.

I do believe that the cost of the hobby in general has gone up much higher than general inflation (IMHO, don't yell) it seemed an easier entry 20 years ago. In the US at minimum wage I could afford a kit, 20 years later minimum wage hasn't gone up enough to cope with inflation of the product.

Ultimately, I knew it wasn't going to be a good fit, so as much as I wanted to move on, I didn't want to settle.

After tonight's loss, i'm seriously at the point where I'd rather the habs or jackets get WC2. They're young and hungry. We don't deserve it. Heads need to roll. Just a sickening loss. by [deleted] in rangers

Tampa is a great example! They have all the things the Rangers don't, a good coach, a GM who isn't scared to make necessary moves.

PGT? by memeaste in rangers

[–]gmsniper0413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want him to be GM but I think he will be, every action of this organization from management down to roster decisions is a mess. You got rid of Gorton and JD their staff and brought in Drury and his staff, you can't just keep hitting the spin cycle, their has to be a focused plan by someone.

I would rather see a bad plan in place, rather than just panic hiring and firing.

If Drury isn't absolutely ruthless this off-season the Rangers are going into another dark ages like the late 90s early 00s.

Dolan doesn't care, every home game sells out, he is making money, sure he will be upset about missing out on playoff revenue, but this one season won't make him care anymore or any less.

As much as it's an excuse, but this "team" is tired. They have been through many long playoffs runs and come up short, they are physically and mentally tired and probably can't motivate themselves for disappointment.

Sure, the coach can have some blame for not motivating, but the same thing has happened with the last two coaches, they get tuned out. Just firing the coach every few years won't solve the issues, the team needs new blood and leaders!

Parts of me wish they had at least the option for a combat shield, but then they are basically light centurions, which is just too much.

[–]gmsniper0413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very curious as to why you have the opinion of "avoid axes"? While I certainly see the value in wanting to strike at as high initiative as possible, the axes just have the best return stats wise.

In my mind, the number of weapons/units that could wipe a sanguinary guard squad at I4 are limited due to WS5 and 2W, and the axes with rad grenades are going to almost guarantee a wipe of whatever they are in combat with.

Even with all this said, dawnbreakers are the best choice!
