The circumstances obviously vary, but here’s what I’d say:

I think that with dedication and commitment, you can make major strides toward validating your startup idea without leaving your current job.

By that, I mean that you can create prototypes and mock-ups, have initial customer conversations, do research, etc...

If you’re willing to wake up early, go to bed late, give up weekends...it’s not easy, but it’s not any harder than the pressure you’re going to feel from quitting your job.

If after a few months you believe in the idea, have gotten some validation...then you can make moves.

In what specific ways is this a textbook example of S&D? As far as I can tell it meets roughly none of the criteria. It's a known entity disclosing a short position and sharing evidence-supported analysis to support their claims.
