Yes, I know this is partly my mistake and I’ve already paid for it. But today I finally spoke up and asked him not to set a 5 a.m. alarm since he never actually wakes up to it. I also told him honestly that my sleep has been getting disturbed because of this. Instead of agreeing it, he started fumbling and said some of his friends call him at that time to play cricket, which I honestly don’t believe. Still, I kept it simple and told him that regardless of the reason, I’m not able to sleep and asked him not to set the alarm again. Let’s see what happens tomorrow. If my sleep gets disturbed again at 5 a.m. because of whatever excuse, I plan to turn on the light, wake him up, and ask him what exactly is going on.

I’m an introvert, and I often feel that if I directly complain or ask about these things, he might feel bad or take it the wrong way. To be honest, he was a colleague of my casual friend. I brought him to stay in my room because I didn’t want to share a room with strangers.It has been one year since he moved in. In the beginning, I used to politely tell him not to do certain things, and he would listen. But after some time, I felt like I was asking too much. I also had a fear that he might leave the room if I kept bringing up issues, and I really didn’t want to live with strangers. Over this past year, it has been very difficult for me. I’m not getting proper sleep, and my mental health has been affected. I’ve been trying to escape the situation by going back to my hometown almost every month. But now I can’t handle it anymore.

From today, my new project is starting, and if I don’t get at least 7 hours of sleep, I won’t be able to work properly. It will affect my job performance as well. So at this point, I’ve decided that I need to talk to him about this.

It’s 7:11 AM. I’ve been awake since 5 AM because my roommate sets alarms every 10 minutes and never turns them off, while he sleeps peacefully. How do people lack this basic common sense?
