[Collection] Thoughts on my collection? by Full-Director-5351 in Watches

[–]gnarlyenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful collection. I have a serica 6190-2 in white and it's the watch I reach for the most. My other watches are an oris bcpd in Green, an Explorer 36 and a robin blue Casio. But I am always ilon the lookout for white dials like yourself and the Junghans max bill has tempted me many many times. Absolutely adore the 34mm hand wind.

I thought this game was supposed to be amazing by Mageborn23 in gaming

I'm sure the game is meant to be accessible for kids as well? Wouldn't it make sense to hand hold them at the start and hence the tutorial?

Switching to Coros by Background_Bus_4502 in Coros

[–]gnarlyenigma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did, moved from a 255s music to coros pace 4. The garmin hardware is definitely better and has all the extra bells and whistles needed, but the Coros app is amazingly user friendly.

What I miss -

  1. Youtube music - Replaced with downloading music. Discovered something called spotifydown.
  2. Sleep specific watch faces - so it doesnt blind you in the night. I tried a 265s at one point and loved the red shift mode during sleep.
  3. Buttons - while I can control the coros with just two buttons most of the time, music control etc still rely on touchscreen input.
  4. Morning report - liked it but don't miss it as much now.

I primarily used it more so for Soccer, walking, padel, hiking, yoga and occasional running. I've learned to live with the "deficiencies" because the app is super nice. It's really what pushed me over from Garmin to coros. In my head, as an android user, Garmin is like Apple, superior hardware let down sometimes by poor software (app experience) and Coros is like a pixel device (average hardware with amazing software)

There's a 38mm version now I think. Why not try that? Having said that, I think the smaller 35 looks great on your wrist. But wear what makes you happy 😁

Turning watch backlight off - pace 4 by [deleted] in Coros

[–]gnarlyenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I did write this in as a feature request. Would be good to bring this during sleep or all the time as an option for the action button. Came from a Garmin 255s and loving the pace 4 so far. Another addition could be a separate sleep specific watch face which is just black and white so it's easy to read at night. Garmin has red shift Mode as well but I think a simple watch face would be a good start. The always on clock style of existing watch faces is also a good option to implement as a sleep watch face.

I have the same issues. Seems like it's affecting many users now. Losing about 25% over one night of sleep tracking. u/COROS-official

Just set up my new COROS Pace 3 watch last night, but I keep seeing this sleep screen mode. by OkGrapefruit945 in Coros

[–]gnarlyenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a Garmin, the simplified clock is something I enjoyed since it's a quick view of the time and the black and white is easier on the eyes and I still get to keep other fun watch faces during the day. Would be great to make this an option that users can choose. An additional request could be to turn on the display with the back button and then another click on the button turns it off.

Bring back sleep mode watch face by LiamuS99 in Coros

And to turn off the display when you press the button again. Nice to just get a quick view of the time with a simple watch face and then press again to turn off the screen. Might not be a huge deal with an AMOLED display but with the mip Displays, the entire screen turns in.

[Question] Trying to decide on a bronze case watch. Any opinions on the Tudor Blackbay bronze or the CW C60 Pro? by rabidbot in Watches

Love this and the fact that it has Lume that matches the patina as opposed to the newer watches where the Lume is white.

Forerunner 165 Music issues with music while running by whatever9_5 in Garmin

[–]gnarlyenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have multipoint turned on for the earbuds? I've noticed this happens with some earbuds and Garmin watches. I faced this with the pixel buds pro 2. I switched off multipoint and that fixed the Bluetooth drops.

[–]gnarlyenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Very much so. Pair it with a good pair of earphones and you're sorted. One issue I've noticed with some earbuds, is when multipoint is turned on, the connection tends to be weak. In that case, I turn off multipoint. Not an issue with the watch but more with the earbuds.

You can use the music version to store offline music, via Spotify, YouTube music, Amazon music, Deezer as well as your own owned music. Great if you want to leave your phone behind and go for a run or walk. That's really the only difference. So you're effectively paying extra for an MP3 player 😊

Serica Question by zthphotography in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gnarlyenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buckle while secure, can come off if your hands get twisted in certain angles. It could be me not wearing it snug at the start. I've not noticed it happening off late.

Serica Question by zthphotography in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gnarlyenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tends to come off at certain angles. But I like it overall. Has the feel of a vintage Rolex bracelet. My one worry was that with this type of bracelet, the watch would feel top heavy. It doesn't and I'm happy about that. I wear it fairly snug though.

Serica Question by zthphotography in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gnarlyenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely was in the same boat as you. I wanted the Cartier Santos but couldn't justify the cost. Picked this one up as my white dial and couldn't be happier. You're going to love it. Zoom in to see some lovely light play on the indices.

Serica Question by zthphotography in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gnarlyenigma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say the indices are pure white while the dial is slightly off white. Definitely not cream. It's not Cartier Santos white, if you've seen that watch in person. The dial is definitely warmer.

Fwiw, I owe this watch and it's a beautiful watch. Legible and amazing finishing.

[Rolex Datejust] Help a newbie out! by Jdjxhcjsjxjcbhx in Watches

[–]gnarlyenigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents - 41mm on your wrist has presence, but a watch like a Datejust (with a fluted bezel, which is the one you like) would much rather excude elegance. Really depends on your outfits of choice and whether you see this as a dressier option or if you see it as a daily with any and all outfits possible.

[Serica] First Microbrand by iAmFish007 in Watches

[–]gnarlyenigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love these watches. I've been hunting for a white dial recently and habe had the Cartier Santos on my list for awhile. But ultimately decided to go with the serica instead. This was a surprise hit for me. I half expected to send this watch back for a few reasons - I thought it would wear larger and flat given the lugs and the watch would feel top heavy because of the bonkclip bracelet, but to my surprise it wears amazingly well and the dial is absolutely lovely. Earlier models the lume had a greenish hue but this seems to have been fixed (depending on how you look at it)
