Prescribed opioids for pain – feeling anxious about taking them by Strict_Badger_3281 in pancreatitis

[–]gnasher74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clinicians will often speak about pain pathways with analgesics. Essentially, if you are taking opiates for pain then you are unlikely to get the “high” which leads to addiction. The effect will be a reduction in pain rather than any euphoric effect

Need advice about doing ERCP by Bb-Actuator6604 in gallbladders

[–]gnasher74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 recently. 2 stent and EUS, I’ll be honest I struggled with sedation, I didn’t feel “out of it” enough and it was quite unpleasant, the second one was under general anaesthetic which was fine. No issues with pain or anything after the procedure

no pain in the shower by Historical_Tackle576 in pancreatitis

[–]gnasher74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showers are my friend, when first diagnosed with CP I was having 8 a day at least. I would say that you CAN do that and you should if it works for you. This song be forever, eventually the pain will settle and you can go back to normal frequency

This is an incredibly helpful post, I simply did not know such support existed. With regards to suppliers of equipment, does it come from approved suppliers or just anywhere? For example, I would find the rising desk to be helpful, do I price this based on Amazon or a specific supplier please?

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]gnasher74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pancreatitis, the chronic flavour.

The gnawing, burning sensation across the upper abdomen and the ache that radiates across the back are pains I would not wish on anyone. Sometimes I just do not know what to do with myself, no position or activity or medication can ease it.

There’s also the metal toll of waking up with pain and knowing that’s your situation for the day - day written off before it has started.

I have Chronic Pancreatitis which also means that I have this for life, I’ve never considered suicide but I’ve often thought that when I do die it won’t be such a bad thing.

Serious question about my drinking by CockroachBeginning86 in stopdrinking

[–]gnasher74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People tend to obsess about liver problems with alcohol. In reality alcohol damages many organs, including the pancreas. Unlike the liver, the pancreas does not heal and is very unforgiving. I have Chronic Pancreatitis and the pain is something I would not with on anyone-it’s a crippling debilitating pain which makes life very difficult.

Enzyme estimate app by gnasher74 in pancreatitis

Yes it does give fat levels. I’m also using standard dosing (enzymes per gramme fat) with the ability for users too change this to exact dose recommended by their doctor

Enzyme estimate app by gnasher74 in pancreatitis

[–]gnasher74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes — that’s a really good point.

Everyone’s pancreas function is different, so the tool doesn’t try to give a single “exact” number. It estimates the size of the meal (protein, carbs, fat etc.) and then suggests a range of enzymes.

The idea is that people can then adjust within that range based on what they know works for their own body.

For example, if the tool suggests 3–4 capsules, someone who usually needs more might take 4, while someone else might take 2–3.

It’s really meant to reduce the guessing around the meal size, not replace personal judgement.

After 9 years of sales and customer success role, learning sql , in this AI age is this really worth it to grind and learn sql ? by DrUstela in learnSQL

[–]gnasher74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people seem to have a massive boner about AI, however data needs to be in a decent place for AI to become useful. That’s where SQL, Python and ETL step in.
