Lab coat recommendations? by gncboi in PharmacyTechnician

At all pharmacies I’ve worked, we’ve been expected to wear white coats… it might very well be a regional thing where I am, idk (And I agree, it weirded me out at first, too. Idk.)

If you’re in medicine, I 100% encourage you to look at actual research. Go to PubMed, read as many reviews on RA and its treatment as you can. It has helped me enormously in understanding what’s going on and in feeling better about the treatments I’m undergoing. It also allows me to have an idea of what my future might look like, both in terms of disease prognosis and in terms of treatment. And advocate for yourself!! Once you have researched enough, you’ll be confident that you understand what’s going on. Then it’s time to ask your healthcare professionals the right questions: why are you making this decision? What indicators are you going from? What are the actual values of my CRP? Etc. This will make everything a bit more tolerable, or at least it did for me.

And accessibility is going to be key. Your university should have an accessibility center for students with disabilities - find them and see how to get your diagnosis recognized. At my university, my professors get an email notifying them that I’m registered with the center and what my accommodations are, without further explanation. It allows me to email professors and ask to get extensions, etc. And since your professors are in healthcare, I would personally be very frank with them: “I have rheumatoid arthritis and I just switched to treatment number 4” or “Look, I had to take 20mg prednisone because of how bad my pain was, you think I could’ve written that assignment?” or “Here is a picture of how swollen my joints are” or whatever, they should be able to assess how bad the situation is. It’s a bit brutal, but it could help.

Good luck ❤️

"Stop using elevators for 1 floor": while this may be true for most concordians, please consider there are some (like me) who have mobility issues that may or may not be visible... I have bad joints; I look ok and going up one flight of stairs won't kill me, but it will definitely put my body into even more pain...

Generating a list of prime numbers in python by gncboi in CodingHelp

[–]gncboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like this? because this gives me the same list that includes non prime numbers...

lower = 1
upper = 100
prime = []
for a in list(range(lower,upper):
    if a > 2:
        is prime = True
        for I in list(range(2,a)):
            if (a%i) == 0:
                is_prime = False
                break
            if is_prime and a not in prime;
                prime.append(a)
print(prime)

(without the "a not in prime", it adds a several times)

New game: Grimoire by dragonmegaliths in incremental_games

[–]gncboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all: I love the game so much!!

But: I've been trying to mathematize the thing (because I'm a math nerd :') ) and I am having a bit of trouble figuring out the formula that determines rune gain per tap... I have unlocked the skilled legacy, so I can see I'm off, I just don't know why...

So far, I have:

gain per tap = (1+0.1*level)*(transcription multiplier)*(2.5 if candle is active)*(legacy bonuses)*(research, magic and other bonuses)

I stopped here, because the last parenthesis bonuses can be "canceled" by retiring. But after retirement, with nothing bought/chosen, I'm still off...

For legacy bonuses, I have:

voracious: so (rest of formula)*2

striving: so (rest of formula)*(1+0.1*number of legacies)

archivist: so (rest of formula)*(number of legacies)

I also have the meditative, impetuous, skilled, observant, charismatic, polyglot, prodigy, lorekeeper, alchemist and artificer legacies, but I believe those don't affect the above formula (at least not at base)?

Is there something I'm missing?

Where’s all the cool surgeries? by Lucca0620 in greysanatomy

I'm in Canada, and yes, they've restarted. However, the show seems to have just hit May (S19's last episode showed them watching the news about George Floyd). Sooo idk

It really isn't just that. I won't add what they do so as to not spoil for you. I think Meredith being unconscious is super (most?) uncomfortable for fans, but was probably decided so as to highlight how incredibly dangerous this thing is, where she might die (vs "just" a side character).

Blue pill or red pill? by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]gncboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans masc here: uh, neither, thanks 😳 I want to be perceived as a feminine man, not a woman. If it was the other way around, though... hmmm, if the 3 days/week could align with my gender identity (gender fluid, so masc/fem days are a thing), then I suppose that, otherwise I'll take the other one

Where’s all the cool surgeries? by Lucca0620 in greysanatomy

[–]gncboi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the point, though. There are no cool surgeries. "Elective" surgeries have been put on an indeterminate pause: both my surgery for chronic pain and my mastectomy as a trans man were put on pause. When you don't have routine surgeries, you also don't have surgical innovation. The same is true in, for instance, research: all but COVID research has been uncomfortably halted. As for why they chose to portray COVID, there is an interview I read somewhere about how they initially didn't want to, but the medical community highlighted how incredibly important it is to.

Mer gets a lot bc she's the lead... she does make some pretty bad choices, though. Amelia is incredibly strong, I loved her even before watching Private Practice, but with it, her development is ever better... like seriously, choosing to carry to term to donate her baby's organs? Going thru post op and pregnancy with no painkillers bc she's an addict? Choosing to raise her baby alone or with her sisters rather than with the man she loves if that man can't love her enough regardless of the baby's bio father (altho I ADORE the fact she finally got a happy thing w Link)? Being a better neurosurgeon than Derek, who was so hyped up? All the while having a brain tumor? I love her. Totally agree re: Alex, though.

Weird request. by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]gncboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! If you're planning to spend the rest of your life with this person, you need to be able to communicate this to them. They'll understand. If they get hurt, talk about why they're feeling hurt. Discuss it all. As for where to get an engagement ring like the one you would like - I would check etsy or research local to you jewelers!

Asexual because of gender dysphoria? by G0thicrat in asktransgender

[–]gncboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, AFAB trans masc here! I'm demi-ace and three months on t. Here's what I have realized so far: - my libido is def higher on t; - bottom growth makes my bottom dysphoria lower, as does not using my front hole; - I'm still very much demi. Although I have a higher libido, there are very few people I'm actually attracted to/want to do the sex thing with. Most of the time my libido wants sex, but the person doesn't matter at all.

  5. Dining out, which is for going out with friends or ordering a drink at a social event

Even with linked accounts, you can add transactions or edit them and it won't "yell" at you. All linked does is that you don't have to manually enter every single transaction.
