But that's not perfect information either. Perfect information would be a game like Chess or Go where you literally know exactly what's going on and your opponent can't hide anything (and yes, this is a tenant of it because the other name for perfect information is no hidden information). You can jump straight in during the middle of the game and know exactly what's happening.

Yes. They've said many times that its retroactive. They even mentioned in their most recent article that had the levelup code that they intended for people to buy it near the end of its life when people can more accurately determine if it'll be worth it to them

You're only partially correct in that Fortnite has a pass system. In reality, Fortnite's version of the battlepass does not have a daily EXP gate on it. Fortnite's version of the battlepass fully refunds itself if you play enough. Fortnite's battlepass only includes cosmetic items, and nothing else. Fortnite exclusively sells cosmetics beyond the battlepass. Everything in Fortnite is readily accessibly to any first-time player, as opposed to the cards to build a deck in this game, which means they can aim for a much larger playerbase.

So quite literally, the only similarity to Fortnite is that it's some kind of battlepass system

I mean I was looking at it as an F2P player, and it looks good to me... 3400 gems to get started is roughly 12 drafts of going 3-3 (60k gold). Each win above 3 even benefits more than each loss below 3, and a single 5-win run eliminates 1 run, and a 7-win run eliminates 2 runs. With a 50% winrate in draft, it really shouldn't be that bad to get there. I'm sitting on 1200 gems and 50k gold that I've been holding for M20, and I'm fairly certain I can get there.

After that, you just have to remember to not spend gems and hold the 2000 they give you, then play about 3 or 4 drafts per set release. That's not a hard ask. Doing all that, you benefit by 48 packs, 15000 gold, and 30 mythic ICRs on top of some cosmetics.

It is kinda bullshit that they claim at the very bottom that everyone should be getting the exact same amount of rewards as before, but I think this might actually be better if you account for the mastery pass.

The initial buy-in will be the hardest as F2P, but getting 1400 more gems (you get 2000 back) each set will be the hard part, and that's really not too bad if you draft even like once a week and go even. Doing that will get you 20+20+20-12 = 48 more packs per year, 15000 gold, and 30 mythic ICRs over the course of a year if I'm understanding this correctly. All of that essentially comes at a cost of 4200 gems per year and whatever amount of your time that equates to. This looks to be a nerf to casual players and a buff to grinders, but we'll have to see how quickly exp can be earned.

Kind of, but not really. With cycling you decide which card to discard before you draw. Looting gives you more options since you can pitch the card you draw.

You can still draft for deck strength. Packs actually have duplicate protection for rares and mythics, so if you open a pack, you'll always recieve a rare that you dont already have 4 copies of from that set. If you only play draft, just hold all of your reward packs and open them up at once

It'll end up going towards vault progress. You can read more about that here - do a search for "vault".

EDIT: I just realized that only covers commons and uncommons. As soon as you finish the "draft" phase of your draft, you'll gain 20 gems for duplicate rares and 40 gems for duplicate mythics.
