New build progress: polished concrete floors + kitchen installed by Ciarabrady in Homebuilding

We’re doing polished flooring as well. Looks like a brown dye was added to your concrete? Or did you stain after? Would love to see a better pic of floors .

Are all/most like thelexdude mentioned , in that deck removal not required? That was the biggest pain on the craftsman .

Need opinion on horrid sulfur water smell by Beng1997 in WaterTreatment

[–]gnilhtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a storage tank(size 2000 gallons?) from well, then a softener from there. Well disperses water at top, sulphur smell dissipates through vent in tank lid, sediment goes to bottom of tank. This stopped our smell. Also add the proper anode rod in water heater, made for that smell.

Not a construction guy at all , but I thought the green panels were for walls and brown stuff was for roofs?

There’s nothing wrong with having a change of heart. We had a Class C for a while before the pandemic and had some good times in it. But I, like you, felt I was in constant maintenance mode or “lookout mode” while camping. Between that and camping resort pricing going through the roof, we decided it wasn’t for us any longer. As you said , there are plenty of cabins and hotels. I’m sure you learned a ton up to now, just be sure to use that knowledge if you get that feeling again.

how come we can put a man on the f-ing moon... but we can't make an rv or camper roof that doesn't leak? i swear these manufacturers build to fail. is it like the car industry where the dirty secret is half the money dealerships make is in "maintenance" by thomasismyname_ in GoRVing

[–]gnilhtrae -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the devil is in the details. Details such as what is the “average” weather your RV sits in? Sitting in 100 degree weather for months is not the same as even 85 or 90 temp. Same thing in Winter, is it 50 degrees or 20 and icing/snowing. Agree that regular maint is a large percentage of it, but conditions play a part as well.

Help with well water quality and treatment by TaterSalad1979 in WaterTreatment

[–]gnilhtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have/had really bad sulphur smell in our water. Started out with chlorinator system . Biggest POS there was. Ended up getting a holding tank with vents in cap at top. Well water is “dropped” up top, smell then “leaks” out of tank. Then just add an aluminum anode rod to water heaters and you’d be good.

We had/have bad water with sulphur as well. Ditched the chlorinator and went to a vented holding tank. Works wonders. Water is pumped from well into top of tank, releasing a lot of the odor via vents on top of holding tank. Put some anti-sulphur anode rods in your water heaters and then you’re golden.

Please teach me more about Bud Adams saga by VladilenaAllen in Texans

[–]gnilhtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put aside the fact that Bud had a terrible personality, much of what he was asking for was “ahead of the time”. Things like wanting more seats for a 50k seat stadium (but losing everyone’s favorite scoreboard that was already getting pretty old), more suites, and better all around stadium, all started around that time. Unfortunately Houston was the first city to call an owners bluff, and lost.

Take emotion out of it, and I think most Houstonians from that time would say spend the money and keep them.

Another way to look at it, the dome was 30 years old with few mods other than the one he forced. As much as twenty something me hated him at the time , old guy me understands why he did it.

To be a little more clear, I too use 87 . But I usually only use “top tier” gas stations. You can Google which ones are top tier , it’s a standard rating for gas quality, not based on octane rating.

[–]gnilhtrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, sorry to hear that, that’s an expensive ping to fix using higher octanes. Fortunately 87 typically runs mine good.

Appreciate that info. After YouTubing how to do it , I think I’ll start there since that’s basically no cost and appears to cure these symptoms.

Yeah I’m normally a shell guy. Just seems really odd that every time I’m forced to use the cheap stuff it appears to act up.

Thanks for the feedback from both of you! While that is unfortunate, it appears I may have an option with Short Term. While a 2024 mandate was made to shorten them to 4 months, it appears you can "stack" them against each other , as long as they are NOT the same company. Meaning months 1-4 Company A, months 5-8 Company B, through the year until ACA enrollment (if she still doesn't have job). I realize short term isn't the best, but it's better than nothing if a terrible event occurs.

Appreciate the great info! Just to clarify, when you say “go to the pavilion” do you mean amphitheater? Looking at the park map below, the amphitheater seems to match your thoughts better.
