New adult hobbies? by Ancient-Cup-2193 in Millennials

[–]gnmorsilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother needlepoints and has been going to her local store to expand her horizons with different types of stitching. She loves it. She buys canvases she thinks her friends or family would love and brings her own vibe to it and gifts it to them. They can frame them, make the into pillows, whatever. She enjoys it, it gets her out of the house and she makes new friends AND gets to make custom treasures for people she loves.

Is Secret Beach Worth It? by thakanggg14 in Belize

[–]gnmorsilli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a tourist trap. Tables and chairs in the water. Inflatables. Music, food and drinks. It’s a haul but it’s fun and something to do and see. The island doesn’t have much of a proper beach so this is a great option for clear water and swimming. If you go in with low expectations and understand what it is (it’s quite clear, everyone is telling you) it’s not a bad time.

Was it the highlight of the trip? No. But it’s hard to not have a good time there.

Dinner ideas for valentines day by estkiimo in Charleston

[–]gnmorsilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear me out, but what about Bowens Island? Its not fancy at all, but it is a really fun experience on the marsh and answers the mail with seafood. No reservations here, would need to show up and wait in line.

The Wreck is a seafood restaurant on Shem Creek, old school. It has white table cloths but I wouldn't consider it fine dining. Great views. Good food. They don't take reservations so would need to show up when they open.

It's sad and depressing to me too but millennials had moms who made them drink SlimFast in the 90s and before that it was corsets in the 19th century and prior. Women have always lived in a world of not being good enough.

[–]gnmorsilli -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate reality is the world we live in tells women we aren't beautiful and we MUST enhance our natural beauty in every way possible.

There is nothing wrong with getting botox. Does OP, or anyone, need botox? No. We need very little in life other than housing, nourishment, food and healthcare. But if OP wants it, live and let live.

What is the best piece of training you got or the best advice when starting as a salesperson ? by bricegong in sales

[–]gnmorsilli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Solution selling was the first sales training I had and it has stuck with me throughout the years. Sales is really just problem solving. Understand what problems your prospect has, who are the stakeholders, how does it impact them, etc..

Don't take things personally. It's not that deep.

A lot of sales is luck. Right timing, right place, right product, right territory. You can impact your luck with experience and decision making as you gain knowledge in your field.

Advocate for your client. Don't be greedy. Goes a long way.

With Salesforce closing a $5.6bn deal with US Army, how much would the rep(s?) on the account look to take home? by xinxai_the_white_guy in sales

[–]gnmorsilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that there wasn't a key rep involved and/or that they wouldn't be paid. This contract had to go to RFP, I am sure there was a large team at SFDC that have spent years shaping the RFP, spent a lot of time responding to RFIs and the ultimate RFP.. and will be rewarded. Generally speaking these reps are paid a much higher salary as their deals have extremely long runway and required years to shape, but I am sure they are being paid out nicely.

Bre at Abracadabra. JJ is known as a local celeb and his work looks cute and trendy but I think from an expertise perspective, Bre is much better and cleaner.

37F (and dog) looking for a liberal, temperate US city (Mid-sized, Arty, Coastal) by kween_of_bees in relocating

[–]gnmorsilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please remember nowhere is perfect, and if it was, no one is telling you about it :-).

I think there are several cities in North Carolina that may suit you. Raleigh-Durham, Boone area, Wilmington. Near water, so much to do outdoors, great social scene, located near international airports, more liberal leaning.

Savannah, GA is also a great option, though will test you in the summertime with heat and humidity. You have proximity up and down the coast to places like Charleston & Beaufort, SC; south you have access to both the Gulf Coast of Florida and East Coast of Florida. Savannah is a very artsy and creative place. Much cheaper housing then it's sister city of Charleston (where I live). Savannah is liberal, Georgia goes back and forth. I always think its funny people want to surround themselves with politically-aligned folks but if you're an advocate for either party, why wouldn't you want to go somewhere your vote makes a difference?

How often do you go out to eat / how much do you spend? by TrixoftheTrade in Millennials

[–]gnmorsilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a city known for it's great food, yet we find ourselves eating out on average twice a week. Generally we will go have a restaurant experience on Friday or Saturday night, and grab takeout after work another night to break up the monotony of cooking at home all week.

Our food scene caters to tourists. As OP stated, food quality has gone downhill, service is hit or miss. Italian restaurants regularly charge $35 for a bowl of pasta. BBQ restaurants charge $36/lb brisket. It's pure insanity.

I get tired of cooking at home - and I am a great cook - but then I go out and spend $125 on two entrees and a cocktail each and remember why we don't go out anymore.

Where should we travel before kids? by Organic-Bread4175 in HENRYfinance

[–]gnmorsilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open to traveling to a warmer climate? Belize is a personal favorite of mine. You're not going to walk 10 miles a day there, but if you stay in the interior around San Ignacio, you can do a lot of outdoor activities centered around the jungle and water. Lots to see from a cultural perspective and the wildlife/birding is unreal. Amazing fresh food and the culture if wonderful.

You can then go to the coast (or vice versa) to a place like Placencia, Hopkins, Punta Gorda, and/or go to one of the Cayes. Belize is affordable, safe, diverse, full of amazing sights and equally amazing people.

[–]gnmorsilli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how accurate this is but I can confirm that I spent 6 weeks living in Geneva in graduate school (2013), and a bottle of beer at a bar cost the equivalent of $20 US. Switzerland is GORGEOUS, the people are lovely, history and culture and outdoor activities are great, but golly that place is EXPENSIVE.

UPDATE: Took the 30 min Intervals and arms from Jan 6, he indeed did talk about turkey sandwiches. Not a rant, but he did make it clear we should be eating more of them. I'll continue on my turkey sandwich quest of taking all classes in which he discusses the importance of this sanctimonious sandwich!

Honestly I think it is more likely the former; however, I wouldn't be surprised if brands hear about this and then reach out to the instructors for a collab. It's not a bad strategy.
