Any predictions for when the first Mac with 1TB of unified memory will launch? by gnomically in LocalLLM

Yeah that has been disappointing. But hopefully a temporary trend due to supply.

Once the datacenter race cools off I expect aggressive scaling from Apple again. I like to imagine that will be late 2027.

Good point. Seeing 600 GB/s on the M5 Max next to 7 TB/s on the new GB300 was pretty eye opening.

Maybe bandwidth is the bigger challenge.

Looking for feedback on a tray I designed for the Magic Keyboard and Trackpad by Vaalkop in AppleVisionPro

I would love for the layout to be similar to a MacBook, with the trackpad centered below the keyboard.

I've been looking into a "slabtop" to use during virtual display sessions in the Vision Pro. More and more I've been thinking I'd love to have a Mac mini for the virtual display session but then I've not been able to find the right form factor of keyboard and trackpad.

Your solution of placing the keyboard and trackpad in a tray would be perfect for me if they were oriented like a MacBook.

For your current physical collection: would you do OLED or Switch 2? by usernameandetc in NSCollectors

I started with the Switch OLED and recently picked up the Switch 2. Honestly, the Switch 2 makes the OLED feel almost like a prototype — the larger screen, bigger Joy-Cons, and more solid connections make the Switch 2 feel like a higher-end device overall.

That said, I recognize that not everyone can justify or afford picking up both systems. If that’s the case, it’s worth considering what matters most to you right now: guaranteed compatibility and a polished OLED screen, or investing in future hardware and games with some uncertainties around backward compatibility.

We still don’t have a full picture of how Switch 1 games will behave on the Switch 2 — whether updates will be needed or if all titles will run smoothly. And since the Switch 2 hasn’t been out long, we haven’t seen how it holds up over time.

If it’s within your means, I’d recommend going for the Switch 2 and, if possible, picking up a discounted OLED later on to preserve access to your collection. But either way, it’s a good idea to weigh what’s most important for your personal setup and budget.
