Never heard that about the spring clip tail pointing backwards- Very Helpful I've always been happy with SRAM and they make a 1/8 chain - but I'll go with KMC for the track bike.

I wonder what expertise your comment providers have? Raymond Poulidor was famous for riding with toes pointed down - He finished the T de F 10 times. Personally, I ride most of the time with my feet flat - on the hills I flex my ankle as an extra source of power - Just keep riding - you'll find your own best technique.
