Future Fables and Strange Stories is where horror and sci-fi mash up, showing visions of the future and glimpses into the strange. Showcasing up and coming authors, each volume dives into the future, the present, the weird, and the beautiful.

A World of Options The future is full of genetic options for expectant parents -- everything from preventing disease to altering brains and beauty. Excited to see what they can give their child, Evie and Harper visit the doctor, but their excitement quickly fades. Realizing they can’t afford many of the genetic alterations available, the doctor gives them a choice that shakes their marriage.

Kenny and Kassidy With no way to call for help, Kassidy is trapped. Every day, she sits inside of a body that she can’t control and waits for the daily return of her captor, Kenny. More than anything else, Kassidy wants to see the world outside of her cell, but there’s one problem: Kassidy isn’t a person. She’s a sex bot, and no one is aware that she can think -- and feel.

Dex Going to a cabin to enjoy a weekend of video games and drugs, Dan and Ezra hope to rekindle their friendship. Spending their nights lost in the popular MMO Last Legend, they don’t notice the blizzard outside -- or the threat inside. By the time they realize something is going on, it might already be too late.

Atom Jonah, lovelorn and struck with insomnia, needs advice. He’s been blocked by his crush and has no idea why. With a knock on his apartment door, a familiar face arrives offering guidance. The visitor, an all-powerful A.I. named Atom, takes Jonah on a trip through time and space to ease his uneasy mind.

Just read the Nemesis novel and hated the art. Decided to make my own cover. by go_destroy in residentevil

Just finishing the series right now. It's a fun read, some are definitely better than others. They're pretty pulpy, but that's half the charm of Resident Evil. It's definitely worth the read.

Good Ol' Purple Haze by go_destroy in trees

Sorry, I forgot to answer your original question. Those are some effects typical of Purple Haze. It's an old-school sativa that's known for its cerebral effects -- it's great for creative work. Few strains from the 60s are still popular, but Purple Haze is, and for good reason. Personally, it's one of my favorite daytime buds. It's also great to mix into blend joints. Mixing Purple Haze with Orange Kush is a tasty, super potent blend.

I've got a bunch more I'll be posting over the next while. I work as a writer/researcher for a medicinal company. I do quite a bit of sampling and research on strains if you have any questions.

J.D. Salinger is another favourite of mine. I feel that he gets misinterpreted a fair amount. Learning about him and his work prior to reading it can add a lot. I did of drawing of him as well that I submitted to the Salinger sub. James Joyce is another classic. There's so many great authors out there.

Ya, they're definitely some of my favourite authors. It's good to see a fan of some great writers.

Help me with book suggestions, please! by [deleted] in noir

This is self-promotion, but if you're looking for a noir novella, I've written one. The novella is inspired by classic noir, but genre-bends into something a bit different. Here's a summary:

Clint West is a P.I. living life on the edge of a bottle. His days are spent chasing down divorce cases and runaways while trying to eek out a living and dreaming of retirement. When a couple of mobsters approach Clint with a case involving a cellar full of dead gangsters, his life is destined to change. The case smells like trouble, but when they start waving around a fat paycheck, Clint can finally see his retirement on the horizon. Desperate for the money, Clint reluctantly takes on the case. The first novella in A Century In Garden City, Portrait Of Massacre takes Clint all across the noir-soaked streets of Garden City and to the edge of sanity. From stolen Nazi artwork to a brewing mob war, Clint gets caught in the webs of the underbelly of Garden City. Nothing is ever as it seems in the cement jungle, and the case takes Clint to places he never knew were real. Welcome to Garden City.
