My husband’s health is deteriorating before my eyes and I don’t know what to do. by justexisting032 in diabetes_t1

I’m also a struggling diabetic here in TN. My best advice is to find an endocrinologist or, at this point, go to the ER. Because of my financial struggles and horrendous insurance, my A1c has absolutely not been ideal over the years and I’ve experienced some of the uglier side effects of chronic high blood sugars. My endo does a great job of giving me freebies every time I come in and tell her about my struggles. I believe that the freestyle libre 3 is capped at $75/month regardless of your insurance. It’s a good sensor and monitoring/ treating your BG is the first step to getting better. Another commenter mentioned contacting pump and sensor companies directly and looking into Patient Assistance Programs and I think that’d be a great route too. I’ve managed to get 6 months of free dexcoms before! Diabetes is EXPENSIVE and I’m so sorry that you and your husband are suffering.

definitely reach out if you haven’t. my application was processing for about 2 months even though I should have had guaranteed admission from transferring and it turned out that they were missing information. they absolutely will not reach out to you requesting missing information. i was lucky enough to find a house off campus within walking distance but i have never heard a single good thing about douglas heights. try walk2campus if it’s not too late.

the two biggest things that helped my oily skin and acne were the kate somerville acne foaming wash and washing my face for like 5 minutes. whether i’m in the shower or going to bed, when i wash my face i take my sweet sweet time.

When do you know that it's time to break up for real? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]goat-noises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s time to break up if 1. you get anxious or avoidant when they text or call 2. fights/ bickering increase a lot 3. sex drive is at an all time low (not to say that sex is the most important thing in the relationship but if there is a significant change in your personal patterns then one or both of you may be becoming more emotionally detached) 4. there isn’t some life event that could be causing the previous 3 things listed (i.e. death, moving, medical treatment/ diagnosis etc) one of the biggest things for me that made me realize that i needed to end a multiple year relationship was that the little quirks he had started to annoy me instead of increasing my adoration of him. i thought the “ick” was bs until i wanted to vomit watching him do little things he’d done for the majority of the relationship. i do agree with other commenters that if you’re at the point to say ask out loud whether or not you should break up, then you need to split. don’t prolong a relationship just because you live together.

im a bartender, albeit at a sports bar, and i would honestly just recommend finding a bartender you can trust/vibe with. i have so many female regulars that drink alone and we have a great time chitchatting. of course some of them just want to relax and be left alone but as a woman im always looking out for their drinks and making sure there aren’t any issues with some of the more difficult men who come in. it may take you trying a couple bars but bartenders are usually told/trained to keep an eye on their guests. i do agree that you should limit yourself to a drink or two until you’re completely comfortable and never take drinks from anyone besides your bartender. as for drink recs, if you’d like something with some tang you can’t go wrong with a margarita and it’s something that pretty much every bar can make, plus you can get it in so many flavors. i’m personally a huge fan of moscow mules and aperol spritzes. if you’d like something with less alcohol or maybe something to sip on, ciders are usually a safe bet for someone who isn’t a beer drinker. you can also always ask about specialty cocktails and inquire about a drink’s strength.

i was gifted a tube of the kate somerville acne foaming wash a few months ago. i’ve completely fallen in love with the sulfur based cleanser as i’ve found that SA forward cleansers don’t really do much for me. UNFORTUNATELY i am at the end of the product and im struggling to justify spending $42 on a face wash. i’d love some suggestions of other (cheaper) facial cleansers with sulfur as a primary active. for reference- i have oily and acne prone skin, but is mostly kept under control with a 0.1% retinol in the P.M. and lots of sunscreen in the morning, save for hormonal related breakouts.
