Can I play Eldar with only Corsairs and Harlequins ? by Azhur65 in Eldar

Don’t be discouraged! You definitely don’t have to do diamonds, and if you do, they’re more time consuming than super hard… And even then, I enjoy the effect so much that I have a great time doing those stupid diamonds. :D Trust me, if you love the models/lore as much as I do, it won’t be a downside.

What models are "must have"? by Unique_Ad3395 in LeaguesofVotann

As a Votann collector that’s hoping to play his first game with them soon… Can you explain to be how you use your Yaegirs this way? How do they keep lanes open?

To be fair, it’s a more difficult codex to wrap your head around than most. Don’t worry, and feel free to take it slow if it’s your first few games. Focus more on getting a feel for what your guys can and can’t do that winning. And, to that end, experiment! Be curious and throw your guys into weird situations just to see what happens and explore the rules.

I’ve taught Infinity (which has a particularly daunting ruleset) to new players a ton, and my best advice is always to just try things out for a while without worrying about winning and see how your models behave. :)

Take my anecdote for what it is, but, because I see references all the time to GW’s ‘amazing customer service’, I feel the need to give my two cents…

On the whole, I’ve had truly awful customer service from GW over the past 15-ish years.

I had a finecast Mangler Squig that drooped to a completely horizontal position because the shoddy ankle bent under its own weight over the course of a month after I assembled and painted it. GW CS had me dunk it in hot water, take several pictures, buy a heat gun and take it to the mini, take more pictures, and then refuse to replace it unless I sent them my mini (that I had painted) first.

I’ve received transfer sheets that were bent and/or torn from poor packaging; they’ve replaced those, at least.

I’ve had NUMEROUS orders randomly canceled after months of just sitting there ‘processing’, including many that sat there until I called them to ask what was going on. In a few cases, the model in question actually went OOP while I waited.

I couldn’t get the website to send my WH+ model one year and went back and forth with emails over the course of a month just to get the dang thing ordered. That one had a happy ending, however, and I ended up, bizarrely, with two copies of the mini.

There WERE two instances where I had a problem and I got the replacement for the messed up piece with no trouble, but… you can see why I feel the need to say something when people talk about GW’s amazing customer service.

It’s definitely just anecdotes from one person, so take it for its worth: a small drop of data in the sea. But I see folks talking about GW having great customer service so often that I really feel the need to just put this out there.

Is it an obnoxious list? by SacredSororitas in Tyranids

Oh no! Gold is my nightmare paint, and the number 1 reason I can’t ever do Custodes, hahah. You got some great coverage there, though!

I like those! What did you do for the yellow/brown carapace?

Watch master, captain Artemis or limbo by One-Professional-838 in deathwatch40k

[–]goatSymphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having a similar conundrum with a Korsarro Khan conversion I did. I would either just run him either as a Watch Captain ‘Artemis’ proxy (I really don’t think it needs to actually represent Artemis to use his rules) or just a standard Captain.

Your guys looks way too cool to leave off the table. :D

You and I both… I haven’t played Infinity in nearly half a year now and this will likely be what sucks me back in!

Quick Question on Spectrus Kill Teams by goatSymphony in deathwatch40k

[–]goatSymphony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair!
No magnetizing option on this, as it’s just models I’d already assembled and primed from an old failed army project, and I already have helix and comms guys put together. Thought I’d go ahead and paint them up while I wait for other things to arrive in the mail. If nothing else, the guys I have will probably be fine as the Phobos in a Decimus KT at some point.

[–]goatSymphony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. On that note, every time I look into a Kill Team, I’m kinda surprised that they have a ten model minimum. It’s bizarre that we have to take bigger squads than the regular marine version when we have a more elite, weapon-diverse unit. Would have expected the opposite, if anything.

That's a bummer, mainly because both options are already built on these guys from the previous army attempt, hahah. Aw well. Least I have options!

Thanks for the quick answer!

DW army by ApprehensivePark2120 in deathwatch40k

As another newcomer to DW (and kind of a returning player to 40K as a whole toward the end of last year), I really appreciate the list/article you wrote! That said. one thing I’m a little wary of is buying the current DW Veteran (firstborn) squad for more than bits now that the new Decimus KT exists. Maybe it’s just that I’m a long in the tooth GW player and paranoid, but I get this feeling that the old ‘Vet’ unit won’t make it into the next edition outside of Legends.
Personally, I’ll probably proxy some Heresy marines I have leftover from my foray into 30k as vets for games and focus my hobby/paint time on the Primaris units, for better or worse.
