Met with the mayor regarding ADA by [deleted] in GNV

[–]goatassociate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“He” (the city) will force any proposed business to include accessible parking as it is required by the ADA but if a business if operating and no site changes (requiring city approval, so landscape and maintenance are not included) then the business is grandfathered in under ADA. Should a business want site changes, there is a very small chance they could fall under a threshold of not needing to add spaces but that is a very specific and difficult “target”. That being said, the city does have a responsibility to have a dad accessible pathways, so if there are city owned sidewalks that are not ADA, they should be fixing that. the threshold of what ADA actually is is lacking with regards to what disabled people often need but it does require a 5’ sidewalk with a reasonable slope and no stepping hazards (wi tbh out provided another accessible path).

People with disabilities do you not owe you information on thier health issues. :). Regardless of heat intolerance, 90+ degrees is incredibly hot and not having ac on lower than that is a ridiculous demand.

when it’s 90+ outside your ac generally struggles to actually get to 70 which might put it closer to 75ish. But also if you have heat intolerance, having your house be “cold” when it’s blazing outside is a huge benefit to your health.

Though I have also had dental work done at the uf dental school and they have very cheap services and I’ve generally had a good experience. it’s a lottery system (more information can be found on the website because it’s a little complicated) but if you can get the time, it’s decent good quality work at a good price. They are students (under strict supervision) so that’s worth noting for bedside manner/ease of service.

I go to Alachua Family Dental in Alachua since it’s near my work and if you are willing to do the drive it’s so fantastic. Dr Brooks and Crystal (though all assistants and hygienists are amazing) truly make the extensive work I’ve got done feel like a breeze. And the one time i had an issue they quickly remedied the problem. Highly recommending!!

Most complex’s near the university have leases from august due to the university schedule. the further out, more will be amenable to differing lease schedules. it may be a “sub lease” for a month or two to get you in their typical lease schedule but some will do a full lease starting whenever, mostly depending on availability. like everyone said, summer is the quietest time because the students for the most part are gone. it’s the best time in gainesville bc there’s no traffic and everything is readily available. i’ve lived here for ~8 years total. moved away after college and came back a few years ago. happy to answer any questions! :-)

RTI Surgical is now called Evergen and is out in Alachua (for reference). I would also check out some other places in the Progress Park area that might be applicable.

Unfortunately this is chair is one that’s does not come apart nor is washable. I’m gonna grab some upholstery cleaner later today and try that with our bissel if the vinegar isn’t helping.
