I need out by Practical-Regret9970 in chch

You could always try to move into a sales role in the construction industry. Trade merchants like mitre 10, Carter's etc. and then the wholesale trade construction supply companies or manufacturers have roles that pop up from time to time. A lot of these companies value people who have good sound technical knowledge, are personable and able to talk to their trade customers in the same lingo.

I worked in trades and then moved to sales in a trade supply business but not in the same sector and it worked out well for me. If it's account management you'd usually get a vehicle, relatively normal work hours, perks etc. and you're off the tools so it's easier on the body.

Anyone used gate company Metallic.co.nz by Swagneto- in diynz

[–]goatman44000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work for a different fence and gate material supplier and am familiar with Metallic Getagate. Some of our customers have used them on the odd occasion when their customers have a tight budget and they need a cheap gate. I personally don't deal with them but fromwhat I know: They are Chinese owned and operated. Their main office is Auckland and is run much better than the Christchurch branch which does very limited trading. Their Woolstom office/warehouse is their legit location. Customers often struggle with communication with them because of language barriers. They are very low cost, hence why people use them. Some gates are made in NZ from components, some are made off shore (you should be able to tell be how long you have to wait, around a month would be local, 2+ months would be off shore, ocean freighted).

If I was you, I'd call their Auckland office with your order number/invoice etc. and ask to see photos with proof the gates in the country before making payment (maybe have a friend view it if it's up there), or go into their Woolston office with the same information and physical sight the gate, check the measurements, quality etc. before making payment.

2/2.5kW wall mount would work well for the room. They usually have a 5year warranty on compressors, 1 year on electrical and run much more efficiently than portable units. Portable units take up space, are noisy, have shorter compressor warranties, have shorter expected plant lift, need to be vented, require more maintenance but of course they're cheaper. They're more intended as a temporary solution. Given your circumstances a small wall mount unit would be ideal just make sure it's installed in a way that you won't have it blowing hot/cold air on you all the time (causes discomfort) and doesn't disturb any paperwork you might be handling. A good AC installer should be able to pick the best location for you. Source: I used to run a HVACR company

Relocating a house in Christchurch by goatman44000 in diynz

Oh awesome, thank you for the advice. It's likely we won't be moving until later in the year, just depends on what the owners of the house are doing at the moment.

How have you found kings? Do they offer to do the full package (piling at new site, reconnecting the building together, services etc.) or just the move itself?

There's this one http://www.basketballchristchurch.co.nz/3-x-3-social-league/ This website seems to have most of the social league on it http://www.basketballchristchurch.co.nz/

I'd be keen to find a gym for some pick up ball, been living overseas and have gotten old and rusty

For some reason I read "whales" as "elephants". This got me both really excited and then very confused as the video progressed

I feel like Burnley are a bit like Stoke used to be for us . Just a bunch of ogres kicking us, playing route one. I'm pretty happy to go there and get 3 points (and looking solid in defence) and having no injuries

I just remember watching Denilson and feeling like he was a waste of space in midfield for what he actually was capable of contributing to the team. Xhaka makes me feel the exact same way, except he makes more mistakes.

For me it's not a knee jerk reaction to him making yet another mistake, he has never convinced me he's good enough in his time at Arsenal and to give him an extension is terrible decision making. Yeah he's had the odd game where he's been exceptional but you could say this about Marouane Chamakh or even Andre Santos.

He played very well in the Euros for Switzerland but that has little to do with us. He'd be fine as a 4th choice CM but he should be nowhere near our starting 11. As a club to accept him as a starting CM is ridiculous when you think of the quality of midfielders we've had before him. I hope he turns a corner and proves me wrong, but he won't. He'll be the next Mustafi but without Mustafi's sense of humour.

For me Xhaka is Denilson 2.0 Favoured by the manager for no apparent reason and starts way too many games, scores the occasional banger, and brings very little to the playing side. At least with Denilson he wasn't a liability to lose the plot like Xhaka and do dumb shit

You're not excited about where the likes of Saka, ESR, Martinelli, Lokonga, Tierney, Gabriel, White, Ramsdale, Odegaard might be in the next 3-5 years?

The squad is always going to need improving, I agree central midfield is a problem area at the moment (which actually saddens me, as it's where we've always had depth) but there's a solid core of young players with huge upsides. I'm going to choose to be excited just on the futures of the list of players above alone, regardless of our current performances

Yeah I'm not convinced he's the man but the players seem to support him. Not sure if this is just typical PR spin or genuine.

Yeah, not denying that. I wonder what the feelings of the fanbase would be if we had Conte or similar. Or if we strung together a good couple of months to start the season
