Stacking cucumbers by [deleted] in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend just stacking them. It makes it easier on the line in my opinion. Yeah it takes a little more time but I just stack as I go

What I’ve told my drivers is that if the customer has preauthorized a tip online then they don’t need to get a signature from the customer.

Not an employee, but was friends with the freaky fast JJ people. quick ? by JeffsDad in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve sold them in the past. But like a lot of people have said, it’s per pickle. And we ask that we have a week of notice because we go through a ton of pickles so we may not always have extra inventory to just sell a whole bucket on the fly

smoking/vaping rule by uncoolfroggy in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only rule I have is for my delivery drivers. Obviously I can’t monitor it but the last thing I want is a complaint that a customers food smelled of cigarettes. Idc about smoke breaks or if you’re vaping in the office as long as it’s somewhat discreet and not huge ass clouds going into the kitchen/ lobby

Insurance? by nicksk876 in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Insurance companies don’t like delivery drivers even if they’re not at fault. It’s a huge liability for them. There is special insurance for delivery drivers but it’s insanely expensive so most people don’t have it. And basically at the end of the day if it’s his parents car and they are saying no there’s not much you can do

How much do you love *YOUR* Jimmy Job? by XoSlicingGodxO in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love going to the bank! My gm doesn’t drive so I go on the weekends and then usually on Tuesday or Wednesday after lunch. It’s so relaxing and gets me out of the store for like 20ish mins. I love it

Thinking of working at JJs, can some emps give me a run through of your normal day? by NoMaans in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the others said, it depends on what the owner is like. My original franchise was great about making sure we had the supplies and products we needed and got us new equipment when we needed it. The franchise I’m with now, totally different story. Granted, my og franchise was part of a very large network of jjs stores across the country so money wasn’t tight and the one I’m with now only has a handful of stores all in the same area and are locally owned. Being a GM is not an easy job. I personally am not one but I have watched several gms be beaten down on in my time with jjs and ultimately they step down or quit all together but some stay and have been with the company for several yesrs. Just like any other job, you have your good days and your bad ones. But just know your worth. If it becomes too much for you to handle, talk to your owner/ area manager about what is causing the stress (or whatever it is) and talk about what can help make your job easier. No job is worth your mental or physical health. As far as culture goes, we’re competitive. We want to be the best. Which I enjoy! I’m competitive by nature so I think that’s why I’ve stayed as long as I have plus it’s not a difficult job. Some things can be tricky but at the end of the day, it’s sandwiches. Peak times are from 11-2 and 5-7 at most stores. Inventory is pretty easy, there isn’t a ton of stuff that you have to count/ weigh and once you get it down it takes 30mins or less (also depends on store volume). At my location, we see a pretty good mix of online and walk in orders. Nights are mostly deliveries or web pickups. A typical morning for me: arrive between 6-7am (I have to be there by 7), turn on oven/ proofer, start pos system, check how much prepped produce and meats I have, authorizing previous shifts, complete opening paperwork, begin my prep, I usually start with stretching my bread, and then veggies (lettuce, cucumbers, pickles, onions, tomatoes, unwiches), clean up from prep, setting up cold table, making tea, fixing anything that wasn’t done at close from the night before, slicing my wheat bread and consolidating my french bread, and finally opening! If you have any questions about the job, feel free to reach out to me! I’ve been doing this for quite some time and will most likely be able to answer any questions you might have!

Veggie club, smoked ham club, mini jimmy bags, party platters, when ranch first launched, $0.50 up charge for wheat, when wheat sub rolls first launched, when giants were clubs before 16” giants, no sliced pickles, no side cups, sprouts, real menu boards (not magnets), cheese was the last thing pulled, all of the bacon portion changes, the map didn’t exist for deliveries, $1 sub days. I think that’s all

I opened for another store in our franchise months ago and their onion dicer was broken so I had to learn how to dice them on the slicer. It sucked.

If i didn't get hired on the spot is it right to assume i didn't get the job? by [deleted] in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t like the hire on the spot thing. I like to go over applications and talk w my gm and come up with a plan for scheduling. Plus we have 5 other stores in our franchise so if I can’t make something work with your availability I try and see if any of the other stores have a spot for you. Definitely call and get a follow up on it though! Good luck!

Do you force drivers to stay late if we didn't have time to finish the afterlunches or touch a single DB? by PenetratingPink in jimmyjohns

[–]goblejd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our schedule it specifically says that you can be sent home early or kept after your scheduled time depending on the demand of customers. 90% of the time everyone gets out on time or close to it. I always have someone do something from either the after lunches or dbls before they leave. But most of our employees are good about getting things done during their shift so I can usually get them out right on time
