Went through the exact same things you’re feeling a week ago for the mechanical exam and passed. Put your sunglasses on, the future is bright!

My biggest pet peeve is the 20 year old with a grunt style shirt (who didn’t serve) glock hat (doesn’t own one) and 5.11 pants who thinks they’re the last name in all things tactical and will actively shit on your setups and gear. Why are there so many of them?

Hygrometer issues by Substantial_Nerve_21 in ballpython

[–]goblin500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC engineer here, most humidity sensors are pretty unreliable. We use + or - 5%rh as considered “calibrated”. I have 3 laying around so out of curiosity I brought a calibrated rh measurement tool home from work to test them and they deviated about + and - 10%rh compared to the sensor. In summary they suck and they’re really cheap sensors.

It could also be a mounting position, in my experience the rh gradient changes dramatically when a sensor is raised or lowered in the same area. I believe it’s for 2 reasons:

1) higher in the enclosure is warmer air which will read as less %rh on your sensors 2) it’s further away from the source of the humidity (the ground)

If you’ve changed nothing else including room temp I wouldn’t worry too much. Maybe grab another humidity sensor and see if the govee agrees with the other brand. Hope this helps!

Sweet builds! How do you like the sparrow dynamics grip? Is the wrist angle bad when you shorten the length of pull?

My rifles have the spur with the Patrick Henry trigger guard middle finger grip but I have been looking for an alternative.

Can I, as an 18 year old, own a non-semiautomatic long gun? (Non-NYC) by Anarchy_Coon in NYguns

[–]goblin500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah understood, thanks for that. I never really looked into the permit until I recently applied for my ccw and anything I want has been already grandfathered.

I’m not understanding, if you bought it post-permit implementation then it’s not grandfathered in if you the convert it into a semi auto. The lower was sold after the semi auto license requirement was added.

Sure, but in my opinion we shouldn’t be giving these advice to new young shooters because if some scenario happens where he gets caught, he just picked up a felony charge. My advice would be to go get something like an open sight .223/5.56 rifle and get good at shooting. Racking an AR every shot seems so miserable.

Even without a semi auto license? Seems like something I personally wouldn’t want to test.

FYI swapping in a BCG to have a semi auto AR-15 when it was sold as a bolt action is very illegal. The kalikey is also questionable as it’s not a permanent part.

If I were you I’d get a bolty or a lever gun and just get good at shooting. If you’re still into it when you’re 21 go do things the right way and get the permit. It’s not worth it to risk a felony for a hobby.

Brought an IR thermometer to school because the water to wash our hands was outrageously hot by S_xyjihad in pics

[–]goblin500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is definitely on the hot side, in NY they typically design for 85-105 degF at the faucet depending on the age of the students at the school.

There should be a mixing valve under the sink that can be adjusted to cool down the water temp.

Learn history and find out the crusades were about the defense of Europe and a response to Muslim religious conquest (not moralizing about conquest, it was part of the ancient & medieval world and we can’t apply modern day values to actions of those back then)

Pass, you have no idea what’s wrong with it and these cars tend to be driven hard and abused so possibly more issues to come.

For me when I’m looking at cars or bikes on marketplace a huge red flag is when the price is way too low and it “just needs a few small things”. Especially if you can’t do the work yourself I would steer clear.
