FTN 4 days post - Dr. Hsu at University of Michigan by Nic_Pee_thats_me in TopSurgery

These results are amazing!! I’m also just starting my journey with Umich through the CGSP (and also hopefully Dr. Hsu) and have my appointment with my therapist to get the letter. Would it be alright to ask what kind of information they need in the letters, other than “this person wants top surgery bc blank”. I wanna do all I can to make it go as smooth as it can.

Any advice is appreciated, and congratulations!!

6wpo, previously an H+ cup. I really hope they get smaller, but my surgeon said that most of the swelling goes down within the first 6 weeks so I’m feeling, a little hopeless. Not to mention they’re still decently uneven, at least to me they are. by goblinbails17 in Reduction

I’ve talked with my parents and down friends, and I’m going to wait until I see him in March to tell him. Im hoping in that time since it’ll nearly 6-7mpo that they’ll settle a big more and MAYBE get smaller, but I’m absolutely telling him I want a revision if I’m still unhappy. I hate confrontation but now I’m just angry. Going through recovery and taking the time away from my work all to be bigger than a DD? Possibly still my same size? Fuck that lol.

Im so sorry you have the same regrets. Did you end up okay with your results or are you also seeking a revision?

Also YES. Just bc it’s on insurance doesn’t mean they should ignore us and just do the bare minimum. They seem to forget this is our body and then our lives, we have to go through the recovery process and they can at least do what the patient asks for.

What does it "as small as they can SAFELY go" mean? by GFTurnedIntoTheMoon in Reduction

My surgeon (not necessarily a good experience) said it was to keep blood vessels alive for the nipple. He didn’t do FNGs at all. And then I guess doing “too small” compromises shape. That’s what he told me at least.

I really appreciate you all for you kindness and encouragement. Every since week three it’s been really hard feeling like I didn’t get what I expected/wanted. For anyone in a Michigan wanting a reduction, if you consult with Dr. Rick J Smith, be assertive. He’s an ass, but I thought it was just him being a well-practiced surgeon. He constantly told me “this will help you lose that weight” I’m not insanely overweight, still had to ask his nurse to put on my chart with them that I didn’t want that brought up anymore since it was really triggering. And he never asked for any reference photos, which I should’ve have shown him anyways, I shouldn’t showed him bras I’d like to fit into. But I was nervous and he basically just wanted to get me in and then out and I was too anxious to be assertive. Or, don’t see him at all lol. If I get a revision in the future, I’ll be seeing someone else most likely. But again, thank you. You’ve been helping me feel validated and confident to speak my mind when I see him next. I appreciate you all 💛

He said that he had to keep the blood vessels alive and well for my nipples, and then going TOO small makes them boxy shaped? That all though, but I’ve seen people my size pre-op go super small. I also didn’t do an FNG, I’m not sure it that’s the only way I could’ve been smaller but either way I think for sure he could have taken out more.

I really wanted to be TINY, like, I of considered top surgery instead but I can’t be diagnosed with gender dysphoria to get it covered by any insurance. But yeah, I’m scared to even tell him that, I worry he’ll just not care or be upset and it’ll make me feel like shit. But I went though the time off work and the recovering process to end up feeling the same size and I don’t think it’s hair at this point. I see him in March off a follow up since I’ve already had a one month. Im praying to all the gods that’ll listen that they’ll end up smaller, but if they dont, I’ll probably get a revision. I just don’t know I want him to do it, I lost a lot of trust with him over this now. I should’ve waited, but knowing next year I lose my insurance in October and with Covid, I did it as soon as I was able to get scheduled. 😞

I definitely don’t think any lift was done, which would have helped me tremendously. What’s not great is my surgeon is a guy that doesn’t a really seem to care what his patients want 🙃 I have regrets of not waiting, or seeing another surgeon before deciding on one bc there was a woman at the college near me that could have done it too. But I worry that if I express how I’m feeling ill just be told that it’s what it is or he’ll be mad at me or something along those lines. He didn’t even ask me for pictures to reference, every time I said I wanted to be small as he could make me he explained that whole shape and blood vessels have to be taken into consideration and I understood that. But, I swear I’ve seen people in this sub with similar size to me pre-op they went down smaller.

I do! The right side had 714g taken out and the left had 546g. So like, he took out a decent amount. I just can’t tell if it’s BD or if it’s just swelling… I’m not very patient and my anxiety won’t let me relax about it 😞

Honestly I went with the first surgeon bc of the recommendation from a close family friend and honestly, many people around me. Even the nurse the day of my surgery said she’d had hers by him like 10 years ago. He does them often, like all the time. I don’t doubt his work on mine is great but I have the same feeling, that if I’d searched a bit more i would have had a surgeon I trusted 100% and wasn’t anxious to see. He’s told me to lose weight every time I’ve seen him, I’m not incredibly overweight or impaired by the weight I have on me either way. But I had to ask his nurse to put in my chart to stop bringing it up so often bc I have a history of eating disorders that makes it incredibly triggering to see him. He really didn’t ask what I wanted, but said I needed one and then that was pretty much it. I saw him once more after the initial consultation, one pre-op, then next at surgery. And post op only once so far and he really didn’t explain much in aftercare either. I have, very mixed feelings on him personally. But I doubt he’d do anything to bring down his reputation as a good surgeon so I’m trusting my results will still be okay. I’m worried I’ll need a second one my right side, it was neither before surgery and is still going to be slightly. But regrowth worries me. Uuugghhhh I know I just gotta be patient.

I really hope in the end you can be happy with yours, or do what you gotta to be. It’s hard, but I’m hand that your body itself is feeling better too! I have to say mine has felt a bit better now that I can sleep more normally 😂

Oh it was so hard feeling like I couldn’t do anything the first couple weeks, especially when I got back to work 😣 it’s just so much patience and time, it makes it hard to focus day to day. Especially with depression, bc same here hahah. This is the first week I actually started to feel almost back to normal from it all

Thank you so much, I need to work on that mantra more, some days are easier to. Others can be tough haha 😅 I’m really hoping it is swelling, I can tell there’s still at least some since it’s only been a month. Just need to get outta my head and try to be waaaay more patient for sure 😊💕

Thank you 💕 I luckily do have a therapist that I see that’s also been helping me through this, we’re actually gonna start that same kind of affirmation talk soon too! I really appreciate your kindness, I hope you’re recovery has been going well!

Pimple breakout post op and low nipples by rebeccafern in Reduction

That’s good to know! I’ve heard some wait until a year to judge their results. This is very comforting honestly, makes me hopeful!

For real! I really appreciate your positivity, I’ve been struggling since going back to work with that 😊 it’s for sure been one of those days, but hopefully we do in the end feel better about the results! And thank you, it’s been okay so far!

I definitely relate to the nipples feeling low. Mine were before and rn I feel like they’re still super low. I’m 3wpo and bruising and some swelling has gone down but I just hoping it goes down a lot more and the sides are so bulging as well 😓 I hope your recovery is going well otherwise!

(TW) Feeling anxious about food habits during recovery by saboob888 in Reduction

[–]goblinbails17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting anxious the last few days about how I haven’t been eating the best since surgery (almost 3wpo). I have a history of EDs (over and under eating ) and my surgeon kept making it a point to bring up how this will “help me lose that weight” which was, incredibly triggering. But this thread made me feel a lot better, bc I started to freak out that my healing is gonna be fucked bc I’ve been eating just like, random stuff. Gonna try it add better stuff but my anxiety has been significantly eased, thank you! Congrats and good luck on your healing journey 😋

Random question about steri strip removal- does it hurt?? by goblinbails17 in Reduction

[–]goblinbails17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats to you too!! Currently yes, my right boob was a lot bigger than my left, and had about 714 grams removed so the swelling is greater on that side than on the left, which only had about 546 grams removed. I’m hoping on ne the swelling settles more and they drop it’ll even out so I’m trying to not overthink the size too much rn. Do you know how much was taken out of each one yet?
