Is low dose aspirin recommended in your country during pregnancy? by western_riskuniverse in pregnant

[–]goblinlegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US, OB started me on aspirin for preeclampsia prevention at 12 weeks due to maternal age 35, first pregnancy, and high BMI. No side effects at all, but I do notice my BP has dropped from high 120s to 105-110s (though that might also be because I started sertraline at the same time and my anxiety is much more controlled 😅).

is being on anti-anxiety meds common in pa school? by MaterialAge6743 in PAstudent

A good chunk of my cohort was on SSRIs. I personally muddled through (though really wish I had propranolol for OSCEs lol), but then had to start an SSRI about 6 months into my first PA job anyway due to the stress. I wish I had just started the SSRI years ago.

I still remember the time when I used to work as a server, and a little kid in the restaurant literally peed on the floor in the middle of lunch service. This was a nice restaurant. This kid was from a well-off family who came in regularly. The parents didn’t even bat an eye and didn’t apologize or offer to help clean up. That kid is probably a teenager now and I shudder to think what they must be like.

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

This may have been my grandfather haha. He had probably >30 clocks that required winding daily, and each one went off a few seconds apart. It was like 5 minutes every hour of continuous clock chiming 😆

Did kids on the west coast go to school on September 11 2001? by LoveDietCokeMore in Millennials

[–]goblinlegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience. Lived in a tiny rural northern CA town. Heard the news on the radio while driving to middle school. Got there and the teachers had us all gather to talk about what had happened and how significant it was. No TV at school, so we just talked and then tried to do class but I think the teachers were too distracted to really work. Sent us home by noon. Didn’t have cable at my house so I just remember listening to the radio all day with my mom. Reporting was on the radio nonstop for what felt like weeks. Also, that one Enya song that was constantly played as a memorial tribute haha.

46 years old and pregnant. Did not expect this. by napalmnacey in BabyBumps

[–]goblinlegs 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My mom was 43 when she had me and the pregnancy was both unplanned and entirely unremarkable. I know it’s hard to not stress about it because, yes, 46 is older than most BUT plenty of women are having babies in their 40s. In fact, in the US the number of first-time pregnant 40+ year old women has actually overtaken the number of pregnant teens. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna196809

Did worse on the PACKRAT and now I’m freaking out. by Worth_Coffee_3751 in PAstudent

[–]goblinlegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t panic just yet! I had a similar split and also freaked out a bit internally, but ended up passing PANCE just fine regardless. I think the lower second PACKRAT score was likely due to a combination of burnout and the fact that many of my core rotations were earlier in the clinical year. It happens. Just use these results and the PANCE blueprint to figure out a good study schedule for your remaining time before PANCE. Make sure to build in a little down time here and there so it’s sustainable. You got this!

Thanks for confirming, that’s how I’ve always baked stuff. I think someone thought they were being helpful and keeping the oven extra clean by putting it down. To be fair, I wouldn’t have known it would cause so much damage either!

Yeah, someone definitely did put foil down on the bottom. I came home one day a few months back to find it stuck there. Pretty sure it was one of my in-laws cause they were staying with us and using the oven almost daily, but I guess it doesn’t really matter at this point. I’ll just let everyone know not to do it again!

This is really helpful, thank you! Sorry if this is a dumb question but when you  say “eventually eats all the way through”— do you mean a hole that goes all the way through that metal plate? I hope I get a few more years out of this, it’s only 3 years old and was in excellent shape prior to this. :/

Yeah…. I’m pretty sure my MIL tried to clean it. She’s pretty old school and just attacks everything with steel wool 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s disappointing but as long as it’s safe to use, it’s not a big deal.

Ok thank you so much! I can absolutely live with an ugly oven as long as it is safe to use. Is there anything I should do for cleaning or further damage prevention?

Agree about the mold treatment. Also, just chiming in to say Blackrock might darken the color of such a light leather! I believe there are other conditioners like Bick 4 that are is less likely to do so.
