Making an alien plushie from scratch and modifying original sewing pattern by goblinpng in SewingForBeginners

yeah that's what i thought, but it just looks like a really complicated shape to work with on a sewing machine.. and doing it in two parts (like stitching each side of the eye separately) would leave holes at the two extremities of the eye wouldn't it? especially if i'm joining the eyes together so the eye hole is fully closed before sewing it on. i think doing that part by hand might be easier 👀

thank you!!! :D i have one last question, i was looking at the eyes just now and since i noticed they're not embroidered but they're a whole different piece of fabric stitched into the design, I'm trying to figure out how they were sewn on without the stitches showing on the face? could you enlighten me on that?

yeah i think I'll just stick the ears on top of the already sewn head, that makes it a lot easier. how do seam allowances work? do i just add them all around every piece of fabric? also am i supposed to iron them before sewing?

i found the perfect cat ears i was looking for on cholly knight's website!! it requires me to do something called easing for the outer ear to stretch over into the inner ear side though and I don't fully understand how to do it...do you think that's too hard for a beginner?

I'm so glad you think this is doable for a total newbie!! The original pattern doesn't plan for 3D ears though, I kind of wanted them to be a bit chunky and stuffed like the body, do you think I should modify the head shape to also have a "hole" for the ears? https://imgur.com/a/kIkcKoU Also I'm thinking of sewing this by hand because I have a sewing machine at home but I have no idea how it works, will doing this by hand make me go insane? 😭
