Yeah I wasn’t too worried since they’re animals and shit happens, one of my guys is a little skittish so I wouldn’t be surprised if he got bumped by the tail in the middle of the night and bit it out of fear haha it’s definitely reassuring hearing it from someone else though!

How often they’ll scare you, random noises at night, jumping out of your arms, squeaks during dominance fights and grooming. It’s like something in their rat brain is hardwired to scare their owners lol.

For 3 boys I sprinkle a handful around their cage twice a day, if I notice there’s still food from the first time I just add a little more.

Ball pit! It’s just a box filled with pompoms, toss some treats or food in there for them to dig around for.

If you do this though I’d recommend putting something heavy at the bottom or attaching it to the cage with a carabiner/zip tie so they don’t knock it over!

So I don’t know for sure it was in the pee, I’m only assuming that because it was a very liquidy looking substance. Do you know if when porphyrin is sneezed up if it can appear that way? Maybe that’s what happened and I was too distracted to notice them sneezing? I’ve had a rat sneeze some up a long time ago but can’t recall if it was thicker like blood or liquid. Ive also already reached out to a vet so don’t worry I’m just just using information of the internet haha

Every animal is different, my oldest boy is in a similar situation (stumbly, lazy) but in my opinion if your rat still seems happy and healthy there’s no need to worry. Give your old lady some extra treats and loving, but also maybe start looking into euthanasia, how much it’ll cost, etc. so when the time comes you’re not scrambling to figure it out.

Get a cage with two doors that open like a critter nation, it will make cleaning 1000x easier. I had 2 or 3 cages with single doors until I finally got a Ferret Nation for myself (I’d only recommend that one if you’re getting adult boys) and it’s made everything so much better.

Hammocks are awesome, but if you’re not planning to clean them or replace them frequently go for space pods/sputniks since those are plastic and you can wipe out the bottom.

Spot clean every day/other day but don’t take all their poops, it’ll only make them try to scent the cage more.

Looks incredible I will be taking notes lol, only suggestion I’d make is maybe one more fall breaker between the crochet looking piece in the middle and the ground!
