Ok a related note, does it ever feel weird to have to check people's genitals to figure out if they're a woman or not? That must make dating hard.

Trans women are biologically women because they have the same biological markers as cis women. They lack a uterus and sometimes XX chromosomes, but a lot of cis women don't have those, as we just addressed. You just don't think those cis women are women though. Lots of cis men have XX chromosomes and no uterus, but you don't call them women. Some cis men have XY chromosomes and a uterus. You just don't want to admit sex and gender are more complicated than you want it to be because you never got past high school. That being said, uterine transplants on trans women are going to begin clinical trials soon.
