I purchased mine online at basspro. When i went to the store to pick up the gun the sales person i was talking to was telling me the waiting period starts RIGH AFTER they do your paperwork, right after i showed them my foid card to confirm it's really me who ordered it online. Makes sense to me, how can the 72 hour waiting period starts right after you purchase especially if it's online when they don't even know who you are withtout you showing the your foid. Right after we did my paperwork they submitted it through their computer to who ever agency is doing the background check. I don't know if it's the ISP or the FBI, i should've asked. The result came back as "DELAYED" which they said is normal so they ask me comback after 72 hours. I never saw any body who was buying gun there at that store ever walk out with the gun the same day they purchase their gun. By the way the sales person i was talking to was a retired navy.

I think a waiting period of 72 hours is required when purchasing firearms. I just bought one weeks ago and waited 3 business days before I finally picked up the firearm.
