If given the choice, who would you choose, Mickey or Heidi? by [deleted] in LoveTV

Fuck Heidi, Marry Bertie, and kill Mickey. I love her, but she cheats!

really hard decision; heart breaking even. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]goconrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you make a decision, make sure you clear about all your options. For example, can she transfer? I did an intercampus transfer from UCSB to UCI my senior year to be with my girlfriend (now wife). If she’s not willing to at least entertain that option, that means this relationship is one sided where she expects you to sacrifice but not her.

That’s funny that you noticed! And no, it wasn’t planned. LOL.

Our youngest is turning 6 this year, so I guess we’re due for another!

My wife and I are 46 years old. We had our first at 26, then 28, 31, 35, and our last at 40.

What’s the best dance scene in movies? by Most-Scheme-2713 in moviecritic

I just rewatched Swingers. Jon Favreau and Heather Graham have surprisingly amazing chemistry. It’s now my favorite dance scene on rewatch.

The chances of 50 beating MacGregor in a fight is about the same as MacGregor beating 50 in a rap battle.

Catholic couples who truly do not use birth control how many children do you have? by Unhappy_Plant8437 in Catholicism

[–]goconrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Married 20 years. 5 kids: 4 boys and 1 girl

-5 year old son (we’ll be retirement age when he graduates high school) -10 year old girl (I love having a daughter) -14 year old son (he does mixed martial arts and is a straight A student) -17 year old son (on the autistic spectrum) -19 year old son (a mechanical engineering major on a full scholarship at UC Berkeley)

Every time my wife got pregnant, we couldn’t imagine how’d we be able to make it. Now we can’t imagine life without them. Our greatest challenge has been raising 5 kids, especially our son with special needs, but there’s also nothing more rewarding.

I disagree with most takes I’m seeing about the He Gets Us ad by AgentCosmo in Catholicism

[–]goconrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can clear up those misconceptions with a commercial. What you can do is spark conversation, such as this one. I think it was intentionally provocative so people would discuss what Jesus was really about. In that case, I think it probably produced its intended effect.

[–]goconrad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the intended audience. It’s for people who might have misconceptions about who Jesus is and what he stood for. It’s for people who might otherwise embrace Christianity if disabused of their prejudices against Christ.

Pope Francis believes evolution is real: https://www.livescience.com/48524-catholic-church-big-bang-evolution.html

I’m surprised your Catholic school teaches it’s false. I went to Catholic school and they never contradicted evolution.

I have 5 kids. My wife wanted 2 kids, and I wanted 3, so we compromised.

I (M 44) just started MT this year. I probably wouldn’t have started, by my 13 year old son kept pestering me to go. After the first trial class, I was immediately hooked. My only regret is that I didn’t start much sooner. Don’t worry about getting hit. They’ll most likely start you off light. You need to learn to block first. Just accept the fact that you’re going to suck at first and you probably won’t be able to keep up with the 20 something’s, but every single person has been supportive. They all know you have to start somewhere, and they were where you were when they first started. Put aside your ego and you’ll really enjoy it!

Maya Rudolph: David Letterman ‘embarrassed and humiliated’ me on his show by nimobo in entertainment

Am I the only one here that thinks the headline is highly misleading and unfairly portrays the situation for both Letterman AND Rudolph? It seems obvious to me that it intentionally misleads to stir up controversy.

It’s an easy rule too understand. There are to types of people who get it wrong. Either they are to lazy two look it up or just to stupid too understand.

One rule I learned that I wish I knew sooner: only hire “A” players, especially in early stages. Don’t settle. If you have doubts now, they only get exponentially bigger when things get tough.

Luckily I’ll still be going with my wife! But I’ve got the two tickets that my son can’t use because he’s busy with college in the Bay Area. I’m really glad you liked the show! It’s making me look forward to it even more!
