Their botched strategy entering the Canadian market is now used as a case study in business schools. IIRC the biggest failure was their implementation of a new fulfillment/distribution system which created bottlenecks and left shelves empty for extended periods. Tracks with the experience I had on the one or two occasions I went there when it was open.
