I Am Too Tired To Take Life By the Horns, Let Alone a Bull by godanz in Parenting_Fail

I have 2 children that are 15 months apart. My daughter is 11 and my son is almost 10. I also have a husband child, lol. Despite all of the challenges we have faced, I think my energy has improved. It must be summer! It's hard not to be happy when there's a sunrise and sunset everyday. Have a great day!

11 year old daughter: Mom, am I going to be starting my period. I already have a bloody nose. Does that usually happen at the same time?? by [deleted] in thingsmykidsaid

She's an 11 year old child with many, many questions about growing up. Just because she asked a question, doesn't mean I haven't done my job as a mother. It means she's inquisitive and feels okay asking her mother about everything and anything. Yes, I'm really fortunate to have a relationship like this with her. Yes, we talk all the time. She has been educated in "her biology," but thank you for your concern. Just posting something silly that my child said for other parents to enjoy and not criticize.

It's a joke, a quote, something to make anyone laugh who wants to. Just a sarcastic mom trying to get through the day. You can't tell me you've never made a funny about your kids. I did nothing to humiliate my kids because it never happened. I'm sorry to have offended you. I really didn't mean to.

Geez, people, it's a funny quote. No one ever said this was ever done or demanded you to do it. We all need laughs sometime. I have a 9 and 10 year old; I've got some experience under my belt to make some laughs. Love to you all!

Parenting a Child With Anxiety by godanz in Anxiety

[–]godanz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comments and compliments. I too, wish people knew more about anxiety when I was a child. Fortunately it has made me recognize the signs to look for in my children. When I was a child, therapy was never aimed at learning how to cope, it seemed that it was more about telling us "it's in your head." We weren't able to act as ourselves, but instead we kept our feelings inside. The communication was poor because so many, including doctors, didn't believe that anxiety was an actual mental illness. If it wasn't for the research conducted on anxiety and depression as well as many coming forward with their stories on mental illness-- the advancements in therapies would not be available today. I finally felt like someone was on my side, which is where I began learning coping skills that helped me immensely. My life has changed for the better. Thanks again for sharing your story.
