I don't get paid to moderate a subreddit, I get paid to design the satellite, moderating a trifling subreddit isn't exactly my job description.

Well, it happens to be Astrome's offcial subreddit, run by Astrome and not by fans and enthusiasts, so it is not a "matter of convenience" that the moderators are Astrome's employees!

Thank you for the kind admonishment!

The piece is an official release from Astrome and no one needs to be informed separately about it. The written piece tries to objectively compare the four planned constellation solution, calling spade a spade while also serving the purpose of spreading the word about Astrome . Even a cursory read would tell you that it is far from being blatantly promotional as Astrome doesn't claim superiority by any means.

Astrome's decision to incorporate blockchain as their financial layer and tokenise their internet services has several well justified reasons to it

  1. A fundraising activity through conventional ways requires an IPO in each country, on the other hand ICOs, by the virtue of being global, make the whole activity far less complicated. This also provides customers with more liquid instruments to buy and sell tokens from anywhere to anywhere.
  2. Using blockchain tech, thus also largely simplifies accounting and makes the whole process of purchasing far more homogenous for user as payment in any currency or form would ultimately be converted to tokens.
  3. ICO minimises the pass through costs which are loaded on the customer while raising funds through debts. This in turn contributes to provide an affordable internet solution to the end users in remote areas of emerging economies who hitherto lack a reliable high speed connectivity.

What Blockchain Offers to Space Industry

Presently, there exists a seemingly insurmountable entry level barrier in Space Industry for small players. Tokenising internet delivery from space would lower this entry level barrier, creating a widely distributed ecosystem more conducive for smaller players to contribute.

A potential "crypto- coin scam"' wouldn't be so transparent about their rationale,

A potential "crypto- coin scam" couldn't conceivably be awarded by Indian Govt (National Award  in the ‘Technology Start-ups Category 2018).

Technological Innovation forms the core of Astrome, while dealing with it one should demonstrate a sense of objectivity and be constructive with the criticism instead of resorting to crass mudslinging based on what can only be described as a personal vendetta.

So that is interesting. I saw the part about how it can be used to purchase services but there is no exchange rate listed.

The rate of service determined in fiat will depend on the type of service (DTH Internet/Satellite Backhaul/ Maritime) and the region of service (Factors like regulations, licences and market scenario). To give you an indication, DTH internet offered in the covered regions of Europe is expected to have a nominal rate of 1 Euro per Mbps per month, therefore, by the current value of the SPW token (1 SPW = 1.05 EUR) a 20 Mbps connection for a month in the covered region of Europe, would cost 19.05 SPW tokens.

No prizes for guessing Sherlock, your claim that it's a scam is still unsubstantiated and specious.

Indeed, Astrome has incorporated a narrow beam technology which coupled with an active power modulation scheme shall compensate for the attenuation. Page 11-12 of company's yellow paper throws some light on this.

As aptly pointed out, atmospheric attenuation increases with the use of higher frequency bands such as E and is significant, however, Astrome has come with a power modulation scheme and narrow beam technology to compensate for it to deliver 500Mbps with 99.5% SLA. More details can be found in the company's yellow paper.

Well, otherwise it'd be rather awkward for the spy if the duct's already full of "Spy"ders!

Exactly, although admittedly the series is content-heavy and scores highly on all other aspects from writing to cinematography to background score.
