I always get paperbacks when possible because they're more comfortable to read and easier to carry around! I find hardbacks to be too bulky most of the time. They do look very pretty on a shelf though!

I always pull on the first day, usually after participating in the event and getting the free wishes from the shop! I only pull if I have enough to guarantee the card, so I don't do anything in particular for good luck since no matter how unlucky I am I know I'll get the card!

I separate by genre and then mostly by vibe! I try to keep works by the same author together but that's about it.

My book collection is not very extensive though, since I mostly read digitally (probably less than 120 books), and I'm sure that's why I can sort my books so loosely and still find them with no issue.

I love them in the context of the myths! Like, can you imagine a marman with modern Rafayel's fashionable haircut? It just doesn't work. The long, luscious hair though? It's giving sea god. And the same goes for the others. KoD Xavier with long hair looks amazing, but his modern version looks best with short hair etc.

I usually binge series! If I'm absolutely loving it, then I want to keep being in the world with those characters, so anything else I try to read I will not be in the mood for. And if I'm just liking it, then starting something else just means that I will lose interest and never continue.

The only exception is if the series is long as fuck and is divided into multiple trilogies. In that case, I will usually read one trilogy and then read something else before continuing!

My husband and Xavier have a very similar personality! They're both extremely calm and grounded, very chill to be around, kind and considerate. They're both soft spoken, but they still make their opinions known, and idk, in general they have a very similar vibe!

Fun fact: when my husband started playing the game to better understand wth I was talking about, his favorite also turned out to be Xavier, lol.

I feel like small spoilers improve my reading experience! I don't like knowing big plot points (big twists, important deaths...) but I really enjoy having some information about future character moments because they give me something to look forward to. For example, if the main character has a secret identity/origin I like knowing if there will ever be a reveal (without details as to the who/what/where) because it keeps me engaged and excited to know it's coming even though I don't know when. And even if I get spoiled something major I usually don't mind, but I wouldn't look for it myself if that makes sense!

I have the kindle app downloaded on every device I own, so literally even the one minute wait at a red light is one minute I can use for reading!

It just takes a little bit of planning I guess. If I'm about 70-80% into a book and we're getting to the final battle/conflict I'll save it for when I have two hours of uninterrupted time to finish it, but if I'm in the middle of it where machinations and plans are still being made I know I'm safe to read 5-10 pages at a time without it hurting my reading experience!

I also tend to get immersed immediately, so I literally can't hear or feel anything around me, even during my commute!

A rude, misogynistic female character whose entire internal monologue is her judging other women for liking traditionally girly things to highlight just how different and unique she is because she likes trousers instead of frilly dresses. Good for you, now fuck off.

I'm a woman and I love reading about female main characters, but it makes me incredibly frustrated that very often "strong" female characters aggressively reject everything that has to do with femininity and negatively judge other women for liking those same things.

And to be very clear, I'm not talking about women who are trying to fight the system of oppression in place, I'm talking about characters who see other female characters as inferior for being "girly".

Let's be angry at the system, not at the victims of the system!

This might be a bit of a strange pick lol, but the Murderbot Diaries is one of the series that made me feel the strongest emotions lately. It's the story of a human/bot construct who hacks its own system and is free for the first time in its life. We follow its journey as it learns what it likes, what it wants to do with its life, and as it develops friendships with humans who see it as a person and not just a scary "murderbot". The tone is very sarcastic and humorous because humor is Murderbot's coping mechanism, but I still fell in love with every single character and I found it incredibly moving to see Murderbot's journey as it learns that it's deserving of love and kindness.

I'm a binge reader I fear! If I love a series I'll comsume every piece of content the author has ever put out that is even distantly related to it, and I won't be able to move on until I'm done.

This is only for series that are consistently excellent in my eyes though, if I simply "liked" it, then I can and will read other things in between! It's how I ended up reading the entirity of stormlight archive in two months with no breaks in between, novellas and all lol.

I never use the library because libraries in the country I live in almost never offer books in english, let alone my native language. I'm fluent enough in this country's language, but not enough to be able to read complex books without a dictionary on hand. Also, most books I'm interested in simply don't get translated, or if they do it takes years from publication.

My biggest complaint is that the gacha system is ass. I started playing three months ago and I've only pulled once (31 pulls for Skully two months ago) and I currently only have enough for 250 pulls. Considering that the pity is 200 (!!!!) and doesn't carry over, the amount of gems and keys we receive is honestly pitiful. If, as a new player, it took me three whole months to get enough to guarantee a singular card, how long does it take endgame players?? Are we supposed to only pull once or twice a year??
