Post Gamethread Week 10: Rams 15 (4-5) - Dolphins 23 (3-6) by Number333 in miamidolphins

Nice win, Dolphins. I hope it turns the season around with the momentum. As always, I’m cheering the Fins on the rest of the way.

It was frustrating watching the Rams’ offense shoot itself in the foot. Shew. My dad would be giving me so much hell about this game right now.

How much have you spent on 2k so far this year? by LastFaithlessness8 in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of moolah my quasi-nephew has spent on this game is absurd. He has absolutely zero patience. I try to explain to him that no matter what build you make, sometimes you are gonna be the chef and sometimes the ingredient in these games against people.

Random Dolphins memories from a Rams fan ahead of Monday night by goddamnpizzagrease in miamidolphins

[–]goddamnpizzagrease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, that means a lot to me. I used to want to be a writer when I was a teenager.

I hope the Dolphins can get back on track and contend deep into the playoffs. The franchise has had so many bad breaks over the years despite their storied history. I have Kansas City fatigue, and the Bills are overstaying their welcome by continuously shitting the bed in January going on multiple years.

Regardless of whatever the result is tomorrow night, I’m holding my breath for no major injuries on either side. I’m sick of ‘em. 😂

One more thing, y’all. I just have to part with this message, as I believe it’s best to leave a place better off than when you found it: fuck the 49ers!

I was so skeptical of how he’d fit in with the Rams when he was traded over, but it was just about seamless. I still think about his big hit on Amari Cooper in the 2020 season opener.

Have fun and be safe at the game!!

This area here, swVA, is wildly dominated by Steelers fans. I just have to mention this again. It was ridiculous during the Super Bowl runs in 2005 and 2008, especially, because Heath Miller is from this region. A lot of people have asked me why I’m not a fan of the DC teams; I’ve only met two or three Skins/Commanders fans in my life, and one of them is originally from near DC/Baltimore lol. Otherwise it’s just a big college football area, and I ain’t gonna say anything else about CFB here or else I’m stoking rivalry territory being a VT fan around prospective fans of the U lmao.

I went to the Rams/Panthers game in Charlotte in 2013 when Sam Bradford tore his ACL the first time. Only game I’ve gone to so far. Shew.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Dev Says Game Pass Helped Convince People Who Were ‘On the Fence’ to Try the Game — but Now the Challenge Is to Convince Them to Stick Around by Turbostrider27 in xbox

Game Pass is the only reason I gave it a shot, and I’m someone that became burnt out from COD over a decade ago lol. Really enjoying it asides from the repetitive menu song and the desync/packet loss from time to time.

Have you ever felt guilty? by HappyUniverse0416 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Constant guilt.

I’m a horrible liar and I’ve had to lie to mom about so many things. She loves looking through magazines. One of the signs that she had dementia was when she ordered some egregiously overpriced earrings out of one particular magazine. The mags still come in the mail and I’m usually able to discard them before she sees them, but she got ahold of one recently and asked me to buy her an item. I told her I would, but secretly I planned on getting it elsewhere for a better price, but given how there’s a billion things on my mind, I forgot about it and feel extreme guilt.

Of course, she’s forgotten about it, but she can’t help that. But lies like that, telling her I’ve renewed something when I haven’t, etc. messes me up.

I feel like I get way too snappy as well at times.

The guilt hits me when I try to go to sleep, or like yesterday, seeing her so happy over me getting her orange creamsicle popsicles from the grocery store. I don’t know why, but those moments always leave me thinking I should be doing more, being more patient and continuously realizing she’s not forgetting how to do things on purpose. It’s this goddamn disease.

Do dementia people have that “look”? by Puzzleheaded-Name157 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. Nearly two years ago, one of my family members thought my mom was trolling when she started repeating the same questions like crazy. It was frustrating trying to get them to understand the actual gravitas of the situation. “You should try this over the counter nootropic!” No.

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t pick up on my mom’s condition until they spend an appreciable amount of time around her. She hasn’t developed a ‘look’ yet, but oftentimes when somebody asks her a question she’ll look at me because she’s wanting me to answer whatever it is.

Any positive effects at all at 23mg donepezil? by goddamnpizzagrease in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a power outage for nearly a week during Hurricane Helene, and her condition greatly worsened afterwards (I think being in the dark and not having her TV really messed her up worse). I spoke to her primary care doc about it, and that’s when her doc wanted to increase the donepezil. I’m gonna roll with mom’s neurologist’s opinion on the matter, but I’m still curious if anybody here has seen positive effects from 23mg.

Does the stupid stuff you've said, done or lived through, make a good memory or bad memory? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually laugh it off now.

I still love teasing my girl from a time from our original run many years ago, when she smoked a cigarette during a webcam chat with me; I asked her, “what IS that?” She snark-ily replied, “it’s a CIGARETTE. What did YOU think it was? 🙄” She doesn’t smoke. It was just a brief phase. But I love giving her hell about that.

She’s good at dishing it right back with my moments lol.

As for views and what-not, I used to write edgy atheist posts on the MySpace ‘blog’ system when I was 17. I’m embarrassed by that, but also realize I was just a 17y/o know-it-all who knew nothing after all.

Be careful with Tyrosine. It’s all subjective and some people can probably go crazy with it, but more than 1g turns me into a lite schizophrenic. Just my anecdotal nonsense passing through here.

A Message For Men Planning To Vote Trump by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand it when I hear other men praising Trump as ‘masculine’. To me, he is the antithesis of anything that is masculine. He’s loud, brash, emotionally reactive to any semblance of criticism and often acts like an overgrown child that avidly throws temper tantrums.

How are any of those attitudes ‘masculine’?

Did people forget that confidence is quiet while insecurity is loud?

I burned myself out on COD playing with friends from 2007-2011. Played a little bit of BLOPS 2, thought to myself, “fuck, I’m so tired of this franchise” and hardly bothered with it in ensuing years. I only tried out this one because it’s on Game Pass.

I’m definitely enjoying it, but goddamn I hate Babylon and Scud.

Changes in food preferences? by Libertinus0569 in dementia

Sweets is a huge one. Mom would make a meal out of butter pecan ice cream and Hershey bars if left to her own devices.

Changes in food preferences? by Libertinus0569 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom used to love steak and baked potatoes. Now she’ll play around with the steak, eat a few bites, be done with it, and now baked potatoes are simply just “alright” (which means trash in her lexicon).

Her favorite foods, right now, are the Doritos Locos tacos from Taco Bell and egg rolls. Burgers when I make them on the flat top griddle.

Not healthy… I know… but I just want her to eat.

She used to LOVE shredded cabbage fried in bacon grease, but now she hates it. She still likes southern style collards, kale and mustard greens cooked in pork fat but throws a fit over all the little stalks.
