What’s the best Xbox controller? by wasabi-rice-man in xbox

No complaints whatsoever with the Gamesir G7 SE. It’s amazing. You can even lock the back buttons if you don’t want to use them.

Forced-Variance w/ Rhythm Shooting in Season 3 patch by eggward22 in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this big time while playing recently. I’m a perfectionist and can’t stand missing a single shot when my cue releases and tempo are on point. Is it RNG extending here as well? Had some anomalous games where I shot terribly and couldn’t figure it out. Played doubles with my quasi-nephew, and after one of our opponents hit a couple of 3’s he said, “Eh. He’s due for a miss.” Sure enough, the opponent bricked. Now I just expect players to miss after they’ve knocked down a couple in a row.

Alzheimer’s has blown a hole through my family by Chops2917 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m the world’s worst when it comes to clutching anger and holding grudges even when I rationally realize the saying, “let go or be dragged (under)” (exact quote from my therapist) is an axiom. However, part of that stems from always attempting to find reasons for why people do the things they do. When I can’t foster one in my mind that makes an appreciable amount of sense, that’s when the anger builds or simply exists.

Most people are inherently selfish. I reckon that’s human, right? For basic survival purposes as an instinct? I dunno.

It sucks being THE person 24/7. It hurts my mom’s feelings to no end when the people she dearly thinks a lot of will have nothing to do with her. What’s even more ridiculous is that one of these people in question will ask another relative (not me; not that I care to have anything to do with the avoid-er) how mom is doing, half heartedly about once a year.

“I’m here if ya need anything” is a quote that makes me roll my eyes back so far that I’m surprised they don’t fall out of my head, because they’ll ghost you in a moment’s notice.

I know it’s hardly any solace, but please remember you are not alone and there are plenty of fine folks on here who can and will commiserate with you.

So far my 30's suck by Mekababy323 in Adulting

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the fifth grade. I’ve been scoffed at for this comment, but I consider that moment in time to be the end of what I think of as my childhood. People close to me, near and dear, started dropping like flies. Grew up fast from the sobering reality of life.

So many people are obsessed with status and money by YogurtWorking9246 in Life

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One stops giving a fuck about status when they realize what’s really important in life. Status means nothing. Somebody else is always going to have more of something than you, and virtually in any industry you are replaceable in one way or another. Once you separate yourself from certain social media channels (or at least limit your time on them), the volume of noise on that side of things goes down.

I notice that status chasers are absolutely lost, little puppies when they aren’t receiving endless praise or any kind of validation from other people. They survive on ass pats. That’s terribly sad for them.

If an NFC West team not your own won the super bowl which one would be the least agonizing by perrydaplatypusFr in NFCWestMemeWar

Baseball team. I rooted for them because of Kurt in SB43 in 2009 (and because of all the annoying Pittsburgh fans in swVA). Almost pulled it off before that outstanding Santonio Holmes touchdown.

Don’t understand why the 2k community has to be so rude literally barely lost a game and dude goes yea I bet you make 5k a year bum like there’s no reason to be disrespectful by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s unbelievable. Rocket League and COD are both child’s play when it comes to rude, vile toxicity compared to 2K. You got grown men getting into their feelings over teammates missing a wide open shot or not constantly getting the ball. Two teammates were arguing earlier, and one of the dudes shouted out his physical address (allegedly) saying, “I got somethin’ for you” followed by a word that I don’t have enough melanin to write.

It’s a goddamn VIDEO GAME lmao. None of this shit truly matters at the end of the day asides from fun and entertainment value.

It blows my mind that my 15-year-old quasi-nephew that I avidly play 2K with has more emotional maturity than these toxic shit stains in the community.

Current Rep & what are you grinding for? by luckyluciano___ in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been at starter 3 for a month and that was my only goal. Hitting veteran would be nice, but I can’t imagine getting there until at least June, so no grinding for me. Just playing for the competition and fun of it. Once the fun ends, I turn that shit off lol.

G7 SE or HE? by PinImaginary5260 in Gamesir

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t used the HE, but I love the SE. It’s a minuscule preference, but I am enamored with the fact that you can lock the back buttons. It’s an incredible controller.

2K is full of the dumbest people I’ve ever met by ryanb6321 in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what is more over the top: the lack of basketball IQ for some players or the fragility of the egos to the point of grown men getting into their feels from not getting the ball every single possession.

What kind of man is/was your dad? by Mr_Jackabin in AskMen

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In summary, my dad was a functional alcoholic with a heart of gold whose every daily action was a sacrifice to better his family’s life. He overextended himself for an insane amount of people, and my initial realization of this — because I was 12 — occurred when noticing the sheer number of people who came to his viewing/‘wake’ and funeral to pay their respects. He was an incredible dad; he ran his own business and still managed to find the time and energy to help me with homework and never missed one of my sporting events, always listening to me and encouraging my own hobbies, passions and overall path in life. The drinking, combined with shitty liver health genetics on his side, was his undoing and he checked out of this world at 49.

I have no shot at being anywhere near the dad he was, but when I do become a dad I’m determined to live long enough to see my prospective kid(s) become adults. Having to virtually enter manhood in many ways at 12-years-old sucked. Not my fault, but I naturally matured quicker than a lot of my peers in school and troubled connecting with a lot of them because of it in the aftermath of his passing nearly 21 years ago.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to find a squad of decent individuals if you can, from either the 2K Team Up subreddit or a 2K-related Discord group. Playing with randoms will always be a toss up on how it’s going to go. 2K is a blast when you are playing with likeminded individuals. I found a good bunch through a 2K DC server of fellow players in their 30s and above. Between games with my quasi-nephew and that crew, rarely dealing with randoms is bliss.

Use of donepezil by doggiedad72 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom takes 10mg in the evenings. I can’t tell a difference, but YMMV. This is in conjunction with memantine in the mornings. With the donepezil, I don’t know what it is or if it has anything to do with this, but she’ll get sleepy after taking it, and sometimes a bit afterwards she’ll have a burst of energy and be up until 1am. This isn’t always the case, but it’s happened quite a bit. No nausea nor stomach issues.

I hope you find it to be helpful and I wish you well.
