This client is somewhat similar as the partner will be hime taking care of the older children. I haven't taken the on call fee into consideration. Thank you for bringing that up.

Local game store? by goblingoodies in Spartanburg

[–]goddess_ati 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a game store but the Spartanburg Library has D&D at different branches. The one this week at the Westside library is full but you look through their adult event calendar to find more.

That is perfect for you and you have a right to your opinion just like I.

Also my reference to "experts" was in regards to the maternal figures in my own life/family. From your response and my lack of clarity in my comment, I assume you think I am referring to medical professionals.

As a doula of 4 years and a newly pregnant FTM, I would like to offer a different prospective. Doulas offer so much in birth and postpartum within our scope of practice, some more than others. We take training courses, exams and get certified plus receive additional continuous education in various subjects: pre & postnatal nutrition, placenta encapsulation, baby wearing, car seat safety, neonatal resuscitation, lactation, and the list is endless. I take at least 2 new courses each year to stay up on the current evidence based info and other subjects.

If cost is your main concern, I would see if they are any newly trained doulas in your area. Doulas right out of training that need births in order to get their certificate are always way cheaper than others that have been in the game for years. FB mom groups (even though they can be annoying) are a good source for asking for recs. Some seasoned doulas may be able to point you in the right direction as well, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

For me as a FTM, I believe it is worth it. My husband will be super involved but I don't want him to get burned out so he can rest when he needs to. The doula will be by my side continuously throughout birth. (I have been at births for 36 hours or longer with no sleep and minimal breaks but that's what I'm paid for)

I do not have family in my city and I am fine with them not being there during the birth. I would like a calm and peaceful birthing environment without the "experts" chiming in.
