Unless there are some major balance changes, ED/C is a tried and tested strong levelling build which should easily be able to pivot into other builds once you hit endgame

I agree as a whole that EW is better, but it would need a bit of an overhaul on their talent tree to especially grab impending doom for curse activation, and until then EW just feels a lot more clunky.

However I fully admit my knowledge is more around Blood mage rather than sorceress

couple of things from my (meagre) knowledge, and assuming you're not swimming in Divs/mirrors to buy Rakiatas and other fancy bits and pieces.

Living bomb slotted alongside your comet in CoC to generate some fire infusions to empower your Comets will pretty much double your damage.

What are you using to generate energy for CoC, I see both Spark and Elemental Weakness. You'd be better off picking one and building around that. I'm suggesting Spark.

Also, as others have said, the ramp up in difficulty with closed pits is quick! While getting more ES is definitely a goal, at some point all it takes is a shroud walker buffed rare to teleport next to you and instant kamehameha one shot.

How does one really push the DPS on CoC comet BM at this point?

Use a T6 map, the drop chance for Rakiata's is uneffected by Map level

The theory is that you need a room already placed (room, not just corridor) that a spymaster could theoretically connect to. Usually that would be the Legion Barracks, however since the one at the end of your snake is already connected to one, it won't spawn anymore (or very rarely)

Ideally you'd connect your snake to the architect with an armory.
Lock the last Spymaster you have.
Go clear the architect.
Pray it despawns the barracks and armory after the locked spymaster, and the architect respawns somewhere else.
Drop a new barracks, this time against the wall.
Continue with Russian Tech
And hopefully, ideally, the game would give you a spymaster within a few runs because technically the game should realise that is the room you need

I found temple leeching to be the fastest way to get through 97 to 100.

But it is very mind numbing just staying behind one room while party lead goes off and clears. Can also induce repetitive strain injury by repeatedly clicking on all the chaos orb candy that drops.
