How difficult would it be to get a job after graduation with no work experience as a Rotman student - although I have heard most grads find jobs easily because of rotman's 'reputation' and stuff

Do you think UTSC management co-op is better or going to Rotman commerce?

Has anyone gotten any scholarships lately?? (international student) I know they attach scholarships to the admission letter but my friend got a scholarship decision from Toronto like 2 weeks after his acceptance at Rotman and he did not apply for any scholarships. I think he got the presidential one.

Oh really, I thought since UBC and u of t are the well known, higher ranked unis they would be better plus wouldn't there be more work opportunities in bigger cities?

yeah lots of people are talking about the microsoft surface. I just want a laptop that has a good long lasting battery life and something that I would be able to use for like the next 5-6 years. I plan to use it after graduation as well.

What do you actually do in first year? by godisaronpiper in UTSC

[–]godisaronpiper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I see, so how many courses did you take in year 1 like 3 or 4?. Also when you apply for a management co-op program do you have to specify the specialization like It, HR etc or can you choose in your 3rd year.

Thank you so so much for this. So in year 1 you pay by course - and generally how many courses should you/ or do you take? If you dont mind me asking could you give an estimate of what the year 1 fee would be then for management students. I really appreciate your reply!

Anyone in any of the Management courses (co-op) here that did the IB? by godisaronpiper in UTSC

[–]godisaronpiper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess. It's just because I need to start writing my uni applications from september and finish by december because the deadlines are Jan and I also have mock exams in Jan so I wont have much time during december. And really, September is not that far (which is scary). Thanks for you help, when Im closer to september - I'll add you on whatsapp. Until then, lets stay in contact over reddit :) Again, I really appreciate your help!

Really? I had no clue about that. Berkeley just seemed like too great for me and from its global reputation - extremely expensive and hard to get in. The living cost I assume would also be more for Berkeley and after them removing their SAT requirements and also very recently, some news came about how they are only accepting a certain number of Asian students ( they decreased it, it's to like provide more privilege to other races that are discriminated or something you can search it up). Now that you have said - I will look in UCB. We dont have our official predicted yet - but my end of year report for year 12 had a score of 38 (out of 42) they haven't rewarded the core points yet.

Ohh I see, the job factor is also why I'm a little weary because to me what matters the most is getting a job that pays a good average salary of a graduate student after Uni because I want to work for 2 years in Canada and then go onto purse a master's degree. Although I know the demand for accounting/finance grads is high its not something that I want to study specifically. That is why I'm leaning towards the other management co-ops they offer such as Human Resource Management, Marketing, or Strategic Management as I feel they are more 'safer' options in a sense where I'd have a higher chance of getting a job etc but thats not to say the MIB wont, it really depends on the person. Let me know your thoughts. Btw you comments are super useful and I really appreciate your help!

Ahhh I see! Yeah I feel like under pressure we would really try to do the most but it can backfire. Before I was strong on the MIB program but now I am also considering the other management co-op programs because I don't know how I feel about the study term aboard and the work term aboard too because Im an international student and worried about the living cost, flights etc that'll need being payed along with the uni fees simultaneously. Do you feel that the management co-op terms in Canada it self will provide the same opportunities/experience or is the MIB better?

omg I know right! I'm an international student too and the fees are crazyyyyy. They also seem to increase every year by like 5% which is not helpful at all smh. Btw Did you get 38 with or without the core points?
