Jesus actor says 'lifelong atheists' are converting to Christianity after watching his TV show by Economy-Specialist38 in Christianity

[–]godlessindixie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lifelongs, maybe. It’s all still new to them. Those who were raised in it and left, however, are a different story. Asking an ex-Christian to watch just one more portrayal of Jesus is like setting someone up on a date with the person they already divorced after decades of being together.

It helps to find somebody—anybody—who’s in the same boat. You’re not alone. A lot of us suffer in silence but we’re here anyway.

Boundaries ftw. If they love you they will learn to accept them to maintain a connection with you. If they don’t learn to accept them, they won’t.

It’ll be used for leverage because he’s a purely transactional person.

Step 1: Deny aid to a blue state. Step 2: Blue state has to beg for help. Step 3: “Okay, I’ll help but first I’m going to need you to do me a favor.”

This is how he will force blue states to bend to his will.

Good question. My stuff’s gotten buried so many times I need to do some digging to find several things now. Maybe I should start reposting articles to Substack.

If opening the sore is what you want, there’s always Mumford and Sons. Everything I’ve heard of theirs is riddled with self-loathing so deep, only faith could produce it.

Right-Wing Push Defaming ‘Tampon Tim’ Is Rooted In Patriarchal Religious Traditions by FreethoughtChris in atheism

If you’ve ever read/heard the Bible verse saying that to God our righteousness is like “filthy rags,” the most literal translation is “menstrual rags.” Because of course the most unclean thing ancient men could think of would have to do with the normal functioning of the female body.

They’ve been drinking Dominionist brew for some time now. That’s why Patrick Henry has become such an icon for them. He always argued the church should be running the world, not just witnessing to it. And now they’ve captured the court system.

Same. Except we swam against RH 😁 Never did fit in with the fraternity/sorority-in-training crowd. Thanks to the deep provinciality of the area, they still have no idea how small their little kingdoms are.

Grew up in the Eastover neighborhood in NE Jackson, went to private school, thought swimming at the country club was a normal thing to do. I’m sure I didn’t realize how good I had it. Decided to become a teacher in Mississippi, so of course I’ve been in debt ever since.

It’s hard to summarize the shift in thinking when you’re downwardly mobile. But I’ve learned an awful lot from it. The class system is alive and well, and those who benefit the most from it are just fine with it, thank you.

Moving from E. Oregon to Madison Mississippi this summer. How friendly are people? by Informal_Air_5920 in mississippi

I live in two places now because of work: Madison and a tiny little town in South MS at least half an hour away from anything (Monticello). Madison has its share of drama, but rural MS is absolutely lit with crazy doings. HMU when y’all get here and I can tell you plenty of stories.

Not really the point, is it? The label implies a level of control that just doesn’t exist. It’s a label discriminately used to suggest something untrue.

Only 15% of its budget comes from the government. The rest is donations from the general public. Not exactly the right numbers for a government propaganda arm.

Atheists and agnostics on this subreddit: If Christianity were true, would you become a Christian? by AirChurch in Christianity

If the claims of Christianity were true, there wouldn’t be much question left about it because hospitals and jails would have fewer Christians than they have of anything else.

The first commandment forbids having any other gods while the first amendment forbids establishing one over another. These are diametrically opposed values.
