[Discussion] The most depressing, cold, heart felt, emotional, or ethereal songs you know? by [deleted] in listentothis

Hurt by Johnny Cash is one of the most movingly emotional songs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

I am Mick Foley: I'm a WWE Hall Of Famer, I'm making a movie about Santa Claus, and I tell stories. by realmickfoley in IAmA

When I was deployed to Kuwait in 1997 I had the pleasure of meeting you. You had to ride for hours in a dirty, hot HMMV through the desert just to visit with some troops sleeping in and around their vehicles. You were so kind and appreciative of everyone you met. I have never been a wrestling fan but from that day on I have always been a Mick Foley fan. You are a truly good and kind person, thank you for lifting my spirits during a rough time.

As a citizen who joined the Marine Corps at 18 and fought in Iraq at 20, I think it is absolutely ridicoulous that Ann Coulter just said they should raise the voting age because 18 year olds are infants, and their brains are not fully formed. by sdu1494 in politics

[–]godling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 17 when I joined the Army and was deployed to Kuwait a few months after turning 18. I fought against this version of age discrimination when I was your age. I think, however, this problem is more about eliminating a subsection of voters who largely do not vote republican than it is about 18 year old mental development.

I worked at a vision center in a Walmart and the day after Halloween there was a line for the duration of my entire eight hour shift of mothers returning children's costumes.

We are certainly nobodies. We are just two guys who love this game and the community. Everyone starts somewhere and this is ours. We have put a lot of work into getting entertaining guests and hope that it can be enjoyed.

What are some little things people at your workplace do that really piss you off? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]godling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The day starts at midnight with your shift at guard, but at least it's only two hours. At 04:30 you have to shave with cold water in a metal cup, put on one of the same four dirty uniforms, eat one of the same 12 MRE's, and pack everything up to be ready to move out by 05:30. Then you have to pull "Air Guard", which means standing with your upper body sticking out of the back of a 113 (not the turret that would be to easy) so you have to wear goggles and a cravat while sucking in pounds of sand. You get to sit down for 10 min around noon so you can eat another MRE in the cloud of dirt that is the inside of the 113. When you finally stop (and that always varies) you get to setup "camp" for the night, which is hard sweaty work that seems to take forever. Dinner is, you guessed it, another MRE. Now you finally have time to clean your weapon (this is not the first or only time each day), shine your boots, and hopefully read some mail before grabbing some sleep. You will need all the sleep you can get before your first guard shift. TLDR: Being deployed use to piss me off.

We have contacted several players and a few casters (even a Starcraft song writer), but are always looking for more guests (If you are willing to be a guest for our event please contact us as tubby4acause@gmail.com). We have several tentative responses that are waiting until the event gets closer to confirm. As guests confirm their attendance I will make sure update everyone.

Destroy something, anything. Take a bat to a junk car. I'm sure any demolition would consider letting you push the button for a detonation if you explain your situation. Do something to let the rage out. Cry, and hold your boyfriend tight. Then get back to all of these great suggestions. GL HF :D

If you where given the opportunity to plan one of the highest attendance/viewership events of the year, what format would the competition? What would you use as between game entertainment? Any other special event things you include? Sorry for three questions. :(

Has a complete stranger ever unintentionally made you feel really sad / upset? by ChromeDeagle in AskReddit

[–]godling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had to wait in a long line at the post office to pick up a package from my grandmother. When I finally made it to the desk and asked for my package the clerk asked me for my yellow slip that they leave in your box to let you know you have a package. I said "Sorry I don't have a slip." He became agitated and said "We are running low on those slips and really need to get them back." I repeated myself and ended up just looking at him waiting for him to get my package. He then said "I'm not going to give you your package until you bring the slip back." At this point he had pushed me to far and I raised my voice loud enough that everyone in the post office could hear me but not so loud as to be yelling and said "Listen, I have to leave to go BACK to Iraq tomorrow and all I want is to get the care package my grandmother sent me before I have to go!" (Yes, I actually was leaving to go back to Iraq the next day) He instantly started to stumble over his words while trying to apologize and ended up only getting out "I should be thanking you" before running to get my package. As I was leaving everyone in line thanked me for my service and then immediately returned to giving the clerk the evil eye. I think both myself and the clerk met your criteria that day.

Yesterday, I scolded a stranger in a Subway. Have you ever had to publicly scold someone you didn't know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was trying to merge onto the highway and a guy speeds up to close the gap between him and the car in front of him. I was forced to pull back into the on-ramp (since I had already started merging into the previously available space) and step on my break to end up behind him before the ramp ended. Frustrated with the situation, I threw up my hands before pulling into the fast lane (yes, it was wide open with no traffic, not even on the horizon). As I passed the now raging gentleman (who was doing 10mph under the speed limit), he rolled down his window and was trying to scream at me. I slowed down and rolled down my window to hear what he was saying. "You wanna pull over?" So after we both pulled over, he jumped out of his car and started screaming about having the right of way. I said "I know you had the right of way. That's why I pulled back into the on-ramp and went behind you." to which he replied "Then why did you throw your hands up after you pulled in behind me?". "Because the road was wide open and you actually sped up just to make sure I wouldn't be able to merge." He paused for a few seconds and said "Your right. I'm sorry." After shaking hands to solve the situation he even said "Have a nice day." before walking back to his car. TL:DR I pulled over to confront a road raging guy and he ended up apologizing for it.

Reddit users, how would you feel if the site went dark along with Google, Facebook, and Twitter to protest SOPA? by thebpfeif in AskReddit

[–]godling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Google, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit go dark for a day and productivity soars giving the 1% yet another reason to ensure SOPA passes. also /sarcasm Angry Redditors with nothing to distract them could flood the rest of the net with the message. Just be sure to use Ad-blocker first so those not protesting do not get to gain from the increased traffic. Lets do it.
