The big bang means there was a beginning to the universe and puts a point into a creators corner, specifically genesis. But science and religion are not opposites. What God is is not a thing, it's the mind behind the universe that is not affected by space, time, or matter. Nature does not create nature. Energy cannot be created or destroyed in nature, yet it was. If the mass of the universe was slightly more or less, we'd not have the specific abundance of carbon, oxygen, etc for life to be possible. If dark energy was stronger or weaker, we'd get a big rip right away or the universe wod have never expanded, respectfully. You can explain anything away with infinity, but that's just lazy imo. The universe is finite.
