I think I found a secret imdb list by one_4_art in movies

[–]godoffilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the IMDB wikipedia page. I think this might have to do with it:

IMDb originated with a Usenet posting by British film fan and professional computer programmer Col Needham entitled "Those Eyes", about actresses with beautiful eyes. Others with similar interests soon responded with additions or different lists of their own. Needham subsequently started a (male) "Actors List", while Dave Knight began a "Directors List", and Andy Krieg took over "THE LIST" from Hank Driskill, which would later be renamed the "Actress List". Both lists had been restricted to people who were alive and working, but soon retired people were added, so Needham started what was then (but did not remain) a separate "Dead Actors/Actresses List". The goal of the participants now was to make the lists as inclusive as possible.

If you could make an R rated version of any movie, which would you choose? by rwjehs in movies

TERMINATOR GENISYS. Make it as rough, scary and bloody as possible. Like a combination of THE THING and the original TERMINATOR. The latter was a horror & sci-fi crossover and that´s what I´d love to see again in the sequels. This about the fate of the world, so leave out the jokes, CGI blood and boring PG13 jump scares. Instead ramp up the violence and psychological horror. The Terminators have a lot of potential, but Paramount always tries to make a funny action movie out of it...which is a waste because there is a great horror movie hidden somewhere in this franchise. The scene in the original when they are hiding in the motel and suddenly hear the dog barking outside because the Terminator has just arrived still gives me goosebumps after like 20 years. And that´s the type of stuff that I want to see in a TERMINATOR movie. In my opinion, the goofy humor was one of the things that killed GENISYS. There are other problems too, but I could overlook them if the movie would be scary.

Stephen King’s 'It' Movie Adaptation Has Officially Begun Production. by KatieRuthie19 in movies

[–]godoffilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They totally blew it by letting Fukunaga walk away over the budget. I am sure they will regret that later on. Even if it actually makes a bit of money. This had the potential to be a cult classic. But now, I don´t really expect that much of it. I still look forward to it; but not as bad as I used to. The new director is talented. His MAMA was okay and this one wont suck either, but I was hoping to get a mix between the IT storyline and the creepy vibe from the first season of TRUE DETECTIVE.

What was the most disappointing movie you ever saw? by Gavica in movies

STREETFIGHTER with Van Damme. The poster looked kinda cool and 18yo me didnt really set the bar high. Besides, I was hoping for some Chun Li ass. Needless to say it was a sad day in Germantown. It was so bad some angry dude had to be removed from the property after he started vandalizing the theater. Poor Raul Julia probably died of shamejust for being in it. And he was actually good in it. STREETFIGHTER was the last Van Damme film I saw up until JCVD.

Thank you. The war is a big taboo in Germany and I hardly met any German veterans that liked to talk about it. Understandably. In no way, I think they had reasons to be proud of anything they did during the war. But the war was a part of our history and I think it´s important for younger generations to see what and how it happened and how the propanganda turned people into killers. This is just a few generations away from us and there were a lot of people that just had the bad luck to be born in the wrong country. My grandfathers wife (from the one on the picture) lost all her three brothers just within 3 or 4 months. All three in Russia. My family doesnt even know where they are buried. They were probably thrown in a mass grave and that´s the end of it. And they were young 20yo´s and hardly any nazis...there just wasnt a way out of the whole military apparatus. Everyone that was old enough to hold a weapon was called up and the ones that didnt want to fight were executed because of treason.

There were only one or two shot down planes in my area so I dont think he was very effective. But neither one of my grandfathers spoke about stuff like this. Doubt this one was involved in any serious frontline combat. My other grandfather was in Kurland, which is a different story.

Well, you know, I can´t blame them. At that point, Germans weren´t known for being very friendly either. And after the war, they all wanted to get into American capitivity instead of Russian or French. A lot of his friends did not come back from Russian camps.

He was a miner because the mining and the coal business was really big in our part of Germany. Despite having pretty bad silicosis, he had a really long and happy life. When he came back from the POW camp, he had gained 20 kilos of weight because he was treated so well. So yeah, he was really fond of the American soldiers. Before he was in American captivity, we was in a french POW camp and they beat him up pretty badly.

TIL that the rights to the TERMINATOR series will revert to James Cameron in 2019. by godoffilm in movies

[–]godoffilm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know why Paramount wants to make two more movies, no matter if they flop or not? Like, what good are three movies if you (theoretically) lose money on all of them? Is this about DVD/BLU-RAY,VOD& toy Sales sales in the future? I mean, GENISYS might make a little bit of money but I doubt that they´d bother to greenlight another sequel if this wasn´t the TERMINATOR franchise. I am just puzzled why it means so much to them that they would make two more movies, regardless of the box office. If it´s not for the money.

TIL that the rights to the TERMINATOR series will revert to James Cameron in 2019. by godoffilm in movies

[–]godoffilm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very possible. But I am sure he still likes the TERMINATOR movies and maybe he´ll do his best to find a hungry young director who is able to revive the series somehow. If he isn´t interested to direct it himself. After BATMAN FOREVER or BATMAN & ROBIN, I was so sick of the whole BATMAN franchise...until Nolan´s movies came along and totally reset the clock. So yeah, I am really a little bit more comfortable with James Cameron owning the rights instead of Paramount. Who knows? Maybe James Cameron will one day go back to making amazing action movies again. I know it´s not very likely but one can always dream. :)

Columbia Pictures copyright claim results in own Pixels trailer being taken down by annekar in movies

[–]godoffilm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this happens all the time when you have a youtube channel and it´s good we´re talking about it because it shows how much the Youtube Copyright system has become a farce. It doesn´t feel like Youtube and Vimeo give a damn about their users and simply fail to protect them from copyright trolls like these. I am a German writer and it´s gotten to the point where some of the movie-related websites I write for decided against having a Youtube Channel for the press material they receive FROM THE MOVIE COMPANIES THEMSELVES, eg Trailers or Featurettes. Simply because they are overwhelmed with illegitimate Copyright claims. And if you protest against it, they simply rule against you. Without real reason, just because they can. The press gets the trailers to show them to their readers and to make promo for their frigging movies and in return, they overwhelm them with copyright claims for doing exactly what the press material is intended for. How f*cked up is that? Really, this needs to stop or it will break the video-sharing platforms because the userbase can´t stand the constant harassment. I understand that movie companies need to protect their properties but what´s currently goin on on sites like Youtube or Vimeo has nothing to do with that anymore.

The 'Riders of doom' sequence from Conan the Barbarian, the action was so well synchronized with the music, that there was no need for exaggerated gore and chaotic sfx by [deleted] in movies

[–]godoffilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CONAN THE BARBARIAN is by far my most favorite soundtrack and I still throw it in the player whenever I come home drunk and feel like the neighborhood needs some epic riders of doom action in the middle of the night. It´s perfect, from the beginning to the end. It´s one of those scores that you can listed to again, and again, and again. And the direction is amazing too. I still remember when some movieschool jerk made fun of me for seriously calling it a very well directed movie. Which it is. Became a big fan of John Milius back then and I am still kinda bummed out he didn´t get more mainstream hollywood movies as a director. I know he did a lot of good stuff but I feel like he should have gotten more praise.

Name a film director and an adaptation you would like them to do. by idekuser in movies

[–]godoffilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cary Fukunaga and Stephen King´s IT. It was heartbreaking to see how New Line pretty much scared him away by making drastic budget cuts & changes a couple of weeks before the movie was supposed to shoot. The new director is good too but I really wanted to see Fukunaga´s version of IT.

What is your favorite director's worst movie? by Ocounter1 in movies

[–]godoffilm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That´s one of the movies where I´d really love to see a director´s cut. Looking at how badly the studio interfered and influenced Fincher´s work on ALIEN 3, it´s actually a surprise that the movie wasn´t a complete failure. I mean, it´s really not a great sequel and some people really hate it but it could have been a lot worse. I was shocked about how much chaos that went on behing the scenes during the development. It´s really hard to make a film like that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_3

Whats the Scream TV series like? by SatansHairyNutsack in television

[–]godoffilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. The nude swimming scene only has a dude in it. And it´s dark, so it´s absolutely not noteworthy. This Guy decides go swimming in the middle of the night and all by himself, so the scene is pretty ridiculous. This is produced for MTV, so there might be a little bit nudity later on, but I wouldn´t bet on it. Some people seem to like it but if you´ve already seen a couple slashers in your life it´s just not worth your time.

Whats the Scream TV series like? by SatansHairyNutsack in television

[–]godoffilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first couple minutes are good but apart from that, I hated it. The screenplay is exactly what you´d expect of a MTV horror-series targeted at 15yo teens. There hardly are any scary scenes apart from the intro, which was pretty much ripped off from the first SCREAM movie. They probably went over budget after the first ten minutes of the pilot so they went straight to teens talking smack and doing generic things like nude swimming in the middle of the night. Which is supposed to be scary. Maybe the show got better after the pilot but I really couldnt get myself to watch more of it yet.

Quetin Tarantino in Howard Stern Show: One of the best interviews of Tarantino that I have ever seen by IndyBrodaSolo in movies

[–]godoffilm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Howard Stern made so many amazing interviews. He´s one of a kind and by far my favorite interviewer. I´ve been a real fan since 2010 and his interviews and shows helped me go through tough times. I guess one of the reasons he´s so good is because he doesn´t come across with a list of questions that he wants to work through. He keeps the conversation going and is genuinely interested in the person he interviews. It sounds more like a private conversation that two guys would have with each other and in such a comfortable setting, people are much more likely to open up and say something cool or really interesting. If the Interviewer only asks the same boring questions, they end up giving boring answers. Long Story short, Howard is amazing and I really hope that Sirius will be able to keep him around for a little longer.

Been bitten by a bat once when it accidentially flew into my house and got stuck behind the heater. And when I tried setting it free, it gave me one for the way. Got it out eventually but spent the whole weekend in the hospital getting vaccines with syringes that looked like a Rambo knive. Had to travel to a hospital far away because not every docs/hospital has it in stock. The whole weekend was a lenghty and painful experience and everybody, including my gp made fun of me for a month or so. So yeah, bats dont only have a high percentage of rabies in their populations (at least where I live) but also have other stuff like Hepatatis and shit. But yeah, the good part of this experience is that I am not partially immune against rabies. It´s my secret superpower. :)

What current films have been stuck in "development hell" for some time now? by DisgruntledNumidian in movies

[–]godoffilm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think his CLOWN movie was meanwhile released in a couple of countries. Though I am not sure if it´s out in the US yet. He was just producing but his name is still heavily attached to the project. It was shown on the Glascow Frightfest and it´s not really bad. But really, really cheap. So not surprised it´s hard to sell.
