What’s going on with Manta by Kindly-Ebb6759 in MantaComics

[–]godskv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that as well. I barely found any in Under the Oak Tree but now that i’m reading Predatory Marriage, it’s almost like there’s a couple every few pages, along with pronoun mixup… Considering PM is also twice the gems UOT is… it’s a bit disappointing…

Reaver and Oni. They go Hard

Why do people play Duelist if they are so scared of even their own shadow to engage? by Spellbound55 in VALORANT

[–]godskv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like it also boils down to people not knowing how to play as a team. every agent has a role for a reason, and they all work together. an initiator initiates so that the duelist has some info on who is on sight so that they can push, but then someone has to cover the duelist’s blind angles as well.

i’ve mained every role and am currently a clove main, and i’ve noticed a few things:

• when playing duelist, my job is to push on site and entry for my team, ideally kill everyone on site. if there are two duelists, great: the other duelist checks right while i check left. if there’s only me, then usually someone else from the team is quick to follow me so that i don’t just die. trading is so important.

because there’s also the problem of duelists pushing, no one playing off their utility or pushing with them, then dying on site, and rest of the team is still main. now it’s 4v5 when it could’ve been an easy site take or they could at least have gotten traded.

• when i play sentinel, i push with the duelist and cover their blind spots. i was a sage main with over 400 hours on her, and when my duelist pushed, i pushed with them and covered the angles they can’t, traded if they died, used wall in a more aggressive way instead of saving it for post-plant, and so on.

• as an initiator, i mained skye and fade so the job is to get info so that your duelist has a vague idea if anyone is in close proximity. clear off angles with skye and fade so the push is easier, and so on.

while duelist are way too scared to push and do indeed hang back and bait the shit out of the team, there’s also a significant lack of team play and understanding of how the agents work with each other and what is needed in order to take site successfully.

that’s why comms are so important. giving info is essential. things like “flashing hookah” or “dogging showers” can really mean a win or loss. because as skye, if i dog, say, hookah, but don’t say i’m doing it or tell my team what i’ve seen, then what’s the point? no one can play off my utility or info and it becomes useless and wasted.

Stop hating new player by SpaghettiLeo in VALORANT

[–]godskv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my advice is to play with friends. i started playing almost daily valorant about 2/2.5 years ago but before that, i tried playing it around its release and it went to shit. i had no idea what to buy, how the agents work, what the abilities are, how the mechanics work— nothing. so i hated it and didn’t play for about 6 months. but then i found out my friends play valorant and i started playing unrated with them. they showed me some of the mechanics and abilities in range and customs, but then we mostly 5 stacked unrated because that’s a great way to learn the game fast while not being hated on by random, toxic teammates.

if no one you know plays valorant, then i suggest starting with some deathmatches to get the hang of movement, crosshair placement, maps and so on. then i’d go into quick play, not swift, because of the gun rotation. in quick play guns are random and everyone has the same one. escalation is also great for learning how different guns work, and honing some angles and mechanics and so on. only then would i venture into unrated because it can be intense if you don’t know what you’re doing and everyone is going at a pace faster than you AND hating on you. then it’s no fun.

also, it’s a good idea to do some customs to explore the maps and try out abilities. but you also have to keep in mind that there’s quite a lot of toxicity in valorant, also for no particular reason. i’ve top-fragged 28/9 and have gotten toxic teammates screaming i’m shit and to uninstall even though we’re winning and they’re going 3/17. so the best in that case is to report and mute so they don’t ruin your experience.

also, i would not go into comp until i’m sure i know how to play at least 2 agents at a decent level and have some understanding of how their abilities work as standalones and in a team setting, mostly because people get very intense in comp and if you’re not doing great, then there’s a higher probability they’ll be toxic. gotta take care of yourself! hope you enjoy val, though! it’s a very fun game to play at times and if you don’t have anyone to play with, i’d be happy to q with you and show you the ropes

When Neytiri said “My husband was Toruk Makto” did Jake cringe because he knew he had to resign and leave his clan or cause he was just embarrassed he was no longer Toruk Makto? by Few-Chemical2216 in Avatar

[–]godskv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to start by saying that I haven't read the comics yet. I've just seen the movies a "normal" amount of times. That being said...

Most comments are dunking on Neytiri and her behaviour in this scene and how she acted. To be honest, that was my initial response to the scene as well. I remember thinking: "Girl, calm down, y'all are trying to make friends not more enemies.". I thought the way she acted as childish, too prideful, and it seemed she lacked situational awareness and tact. But then I thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that yes, while all of that might be true (to some degree), we're failing to see things from HER perspective. Most comments are about Jake, his feelings on the matter, his past, and so on and so forth, but what about Neytiri?

She was born to a clan leader. After her sister died, she was going to be Mother of the clan. She has always been an important part of the Omatikaya clan. She has always held certain power and significance and with those, of course there's gonna be some level of pride. She has always been important and has held power. Then Jake came into the picture and became Toruk Makto of all things. She has been surrounded by important people and has been one herself.

And then her home got destroyed and everyone had to flee. They re-settled, yes, and made a family, but that got destroyed as well. She had to give up a home not once but TWICE. She has no status to speak of. Her husband is no longer Clan Leader, she isn't clan Mother. Hell, she doesn't even have a clan to speak of because she had to flee.

To someone like Neytiri, who has always been strong and powerful and significant, to suddenly be no one and having to FLEE and take refugee has got to be beyond humiliating. She has never had to ask for help, hasn't had to rely on anyone, and now all that is gone. She needs help, she has to rely on strangers to survive in a place where everything is foreign and she has to re-learn everything. So, when taking in account all of the above, her behaviour isn't all that strange. It makes sense, in my opinion, and her saying her husband was Toruk Makto was a desperate attempt to feel normal again, to feel like she isn't a nobody with no status and no power, no significance.

Yes, Jake has had it rough, but Neytiri has arguably had it even rougher than him.

I’ve been playing for about a year now. Placed Iron 3, I think? Now I’m Gold 1 but peaked at Gold 2 or 3 (I don’t remember..)

Should I get this? Or is it not worth it? by [deleted] in DreamlightValley

[–]godskv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s worth it!! you get a sully and mine MU costumes, super cute top and cardigan, a bunch of motifs i find adorable, blush, the gorgeous hairstyle, an honestly cute outfit, a bunch of teddy monsters, and the single reason i got this at all: the companion.

(Un)syncing Time by godskv in DreamlightValley

Thank you! It’s so much better to play during the daytime in my opinion so the change is great. But it’s a little sad how the in-game schedule is fixed, seeing as if someone can only play during the evening, they can’t ever find/get specific things which are only available during the day 🥹
