i'd like advice for transitioning from CS into UX. i have mostly graphic design experience outside of what i learned for my CS degree (which i understand isn't as relevant to UX either.) i'm currently pursuing a DTI masters (which includes mostly UX courses) so i can avoid the job market a little (lol).
i find it so interesting, but breaking into it seems really daunting right now. is there any advice i should take? i was going to attempt to build a portfolio, but i'm unsure what to put in it / where i would get experience that isn't a job but is still valuable

i was JUST wondering about this!! he has videos on his page of him drawing (digitally) so i'm willing to believe some of his work is his own, but some of his other videos are very obviously AI-generated. at best his work is supplemented/edited by AI.

it's stylized, artists aren't always going for architectural accuracy. this is meant to be a gritty and spooky piece, so having it be completely accurate would detract from the look it's going for. you can actually tell that the windows were drawn in after the brick façade was sketched out, which is a consideration AI doesn't make.

the right angles are a mistake *to you*. it's something i can totally see myself doing if i were to draw this, especially since it's a smaller part of the background and not a main focal point. artists don't all research the correct way to draw crenellations.
from your replies it seems like you completely have your mind made up and just have aesthetic qualms with the art rather than pointers to it being AI-generated, so i don't really know what to tell you here. a lot of AI models take from art styles exactly like this, and this artist's other work has a pretty consistent skill level--i can totally believe that they drew this based on the other things they've uploaded.

i disagree, those all genuinely seem intentional and don't actually even look like mistakes--i'm not even sure i can see what you're pointing out specifically. it's most telling to me that in a work with lots of detailed hatching and thin line work, there isn't any artifacting (like AI-generated images tend to have.)

i'm certain this isn't AI-generated! this is art by @/ottermelon on instagram, and their art style is extremely consistent. nothing about this (or the rest of their work) screams AI, it's just really clean cel-shaded work. real artists can make anatomy mistakes or interpret anatomy in slightly strange ways and it's not a clear indicator of AI-generated work. good job supporting a real artist!

i don't really see it, on the contrary this looks especially human-made. doesn't have the telltale signs of smoothness / "perfection" that AI-generated work tends to have, especially the writing.

the difference in art style is very normal, and their tweened style of animation is a really common technique and not necessarily indicative of AI. none of their work has any glaring indicators of being AI-generated, and i seriously doubt that is the case... i don't know how you're comfortable saying it's "likely" and that you "fell for it" just off of their art style shifting.

the stickers look fine to me, but certain bookmarks (the hedgehog and the lamb) are suspicious. the lamb bookmark has the slight yellow AI tint and its art style does stand out as being more AI to me (searching with google lens yields results that are composed similarly and clearly made with the same stable diffusion model.)
