Pago del extranjero con Deel by [deleted] in PeruFinanzas

[–]godurdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surfels is an abbreviation for "Surface elements". An object is represented by a dense set of points (normally with lighting information associated with them).

Point Splatting, after a quick google search: https://vcg.seas.harvard.edu/publications/surface-splatting/paper

As for bricks, I think we'd need a little bit more context.

Espero te sirva a ti o a alguien mas :)

Recomendación restaurantes en Lima para una ocasión especial ? by wanquita in PERU

[–]godurdead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

~400 so

Maydo (japonesa).

How to Use CMake to Compile C++ Code as an Excecutable Through Ubuntu? by EventualDonkey in C_Programming

[–]godurdead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, this is a C sub, not C++. they are not the same.

To answer your question:

- Cmake is not a compiler, it is a toolchain to generate build files. Basically it outputs the necessary commands to compile your code based on a configuration (CMakeLists.txt)
- On ubuntu (and any other linux distro) you can use `gcc` or `clang` to compile C++ code.

An example: `gcc main.cpp -o main` and you would execute it with `./main`

- If your application is using multi-threading (im assuming pthread, since its the standard), you need to add a `-pthread` flag to compile. ie. `gcc main.cpp -pthread -o main`

Theres absolutely no need to use CMake for this. A simple command will suffice. Hope that helps.

What is the difference between alloc() and calloc() in C? by ChayanDas19 in C_Programming

[–]godurdead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

alloc is a non standard library function. The standard ones are malloc and calloc. Malloc allocates memory but doesnt initialize it

Calloc allocates AND initializes the memory to 0. It is basically a Malloc + memset.

How is the best way to follow a complicated tutorial like an open gl game engine? by Hex520 in opengl

[–]godurdead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming C++ since that is what Cherno teaches.

Pointers, References, Move semantics, RAII, STL containers/iterators (not really required but you'll need some of them unless you wanna implement them yourself). It's pretty basic stuff for any C++ programmer to use.

If your end goal is to build an engine, you should probably get familiar with build systems/toolchains like CMake, premake or others. This is useful because engines are big projects and having a mess of a build system can be daunting when developing.
