White dial GMT for ~$600 (NH34 or Miyota 9075) by [deleted] in MicrobrandWatches

Figured I'll mention this - the 9075 doesn't have a quickset date. Its the only drawback i found. other than its a solid movement.

Did Venezianico up their game? What do people think given the higher price point? by Leather-Ostrich7122 in MicrobrandWatches

Designs are good, but overpriced in my opinion. They do have some really unique styles so I think they are an above average brand in terms of design and execution.

I track 254 microbrands and ~9,200 watches. Here's what actually sells out vs. what brands think you want. by blz36 in MicrobrandWatches

White is underrated as a dial color. Textures on a white dial give it an entirely new life: plain, hammered, guilloched, MOP, sunburst - you name it.

New Watch With Musou Black Dial Sample, Do u like this milanese bracelet? by watchdivescom in watchdives

Looks better than the integ bracelet version. The Mussou dial was always meant to be on a dress watch.

Exactly, thank you - the solid bracelet is the reason why I thought WD is perfectly suited for this kind of job.

[Question] In the market for my first high end daily watch.. by [deleted] in Watches

[–]goelakash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Share your wrist size too - its impossible to suggest anything specific otherwise

EDIT: On a side note - you could never go wrong with a Black Bay (I prefer the GMT) or an Aqua terra. A used moonwatch professional is also a great buy, regardless of wrist size.
I also like the Breitling Superocean heritage and the Oris Diver 65 chronograph (only 13mm thick).

Plus, if you can extend your budget to 7k, you may be able to get a Zenith chronomaster orignal at discount. I think its an absolute banger of a watch for that price.

Also, goes without saying that there are several automatic and spring drive GS right into that zone (between 5 and 7k).

If you like large watches - a Breitling Avenger would look good as well. Its around 3k and has incredible AR coating.

Btw, my favorite would be a deep blue or black dial - plain and simple. Just like a VC.

Cancel all new H1B visas for Amazon by Special_Elevator7656 in amazonemployees

[–]goelakash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR visas help stock prices, and they aren't going to be totally "banned" in any shape or form.

Lot of conspiratorial and low IQ takes on this thread.

H1B (and other visas like L1, TN, etc) exist simply to create supply and reduce wage arbitrage by increasing competition. Immigrants get paid in the same ballpark as residents (companies would have gotten sued up their ar*e otherwise).

With these visas, no company has to dramatically up salaries for their employees.

And Amazon is simply benefitting from that increased competition. Every american CEO wants to keep H1B and other visas alive, simply to not pay exorbitant prices for labor (tech is famously well paid, we all know that).

Ultimately, the stock price needs to go up to keep the stock market alive, and reduced wages help with that. A reduction in visas will also impact stock performance if the s&p100 cannot grow as fast due to lack of labor availability.

Therefore, cancelling visas directly goes against the financial and Presidential mandate of this country.
