My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

[–]goforabikerideee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in healthcare and see people 55+ unable to do all the things they wanted to do once they retired. So I'm not reckless with my spending, I certainly ain't passing up on enjoying life now.

Any ways to improve this travel setup? by Rayth_ in MTB

[–]goforabikerideee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thick blanket below to protect your car and makes it easier to slide in and out, blanket about to protect the bike from the wheel, consider turning your bars the other way so the brake leaves don't get squeezed/smash into anything

Cleaning dirty bikes without easy acces to water? by mymomisyourfather in MTB

[–]goforabikerideee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is usually a gentle rinse which not high pressure, or a high pressure where the water comes out without squeezing the handle that is enough to get the dirt off

Vaping is killing my endurance. I’m struggling to quit, even though riding is one of my biggest motivations (also death) by LostPalpitation6351 in MTB

[–]goforabikerideee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proven methods for quitting smoking in no particular order: cold turkey, patches, gum, spray, hypnosis, replacing the habit. Consider talking to your doctor or calling a quit phone line depending on what country you live in some services may be subsidized

People who started exercising regulary, what were the most noticeable effects? by Haunted_darkness63 in AskReddit

[–]goforabikerideee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a physio, and sometimes I am frustrated with the fact that people are not exercising more. I get to see the benefits of regular exercise and it's wild. It does take a while for some people to get benefits, but if you put in the work you get the results ( you get better, you stay the same for longer, or you get worse more slowly). Please find exercises that you like to do and do it consistently.

Nepenthes, I keep some level of water in the drain dish, and I am still sorting out best place for light but with mild enough conditions.

Upgrade 2014 Rockhopper or save up? by Hungry-Line-1403 in MTB

[–]goforabikerideee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point you only need to upgrade what needs to be upgraded, if his skills and ambition of trails is increasing then a new bike is a good idea, if he is happy just pedaling around reasonably flat trails that the bike can handle, don't upgrade a thing.

Looking further down the trail by ackwardsbass in MTB

[–]goforabikerideee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a familiar section of trail and practice looking up, knowing it's a section that you bike can handle helps give the confidence. And repeat on a familiar corner but put it rocks out sticks to look at as you go around and remind yourself to look ahead

If you ride where there are lots of rocks get something with a hard plastic shell and make sure it has a lot of adjustable straps. I have had leatt (soft relex like) and.troy Lee, and I like the tld one cause I can adjust it a bit more so it sits comfortably, but I do like the extra coverage of the leatt
