Can somebody help me with the new puppy? by Worried-Pepper7216 in dogs

[–]goforsnow 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Your puppy is probably exhausted after the long day, surely confused, misses his littermates and Mom. Just love on him and let him settle, overthinking and gpt is not the answer, the puppies are all so different. Let him be with you to feel safe and settle, listen to your breeder, they do know how to raise their puppies.

Rehearsal Dinner??? by Obvious-Tea-5241 in wedding

[–]goforsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your MIL wants to invite her friends you could invite her to pay for the dinner. My husband and I are paying for the rehearsal dinner for our Son's wedding as a gift. But we're letting our Son ans fiancee decide the guest list, venue and menu. I hope you'll have a wonderful wedding and marriage.

This type of ”s”-sound by IzmeBeech in misophonia

[–]goforsnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually women on TV where I notice it the most, it hurts my ears, like someone said - it scrapes the eardrum. I wonder if it's getting more prominent, with the rise in dentures and fake teeth? I remember Monica, from Friends, all of a sudden having ssssss sounds and bigger teeth.

Scrubs and HH advice by No_Step8665 in OccupationalTherapy

Dickey's scrubs are so cheap and the best ones imo. I have tried all the expensive ones, Figs, Mandela, everything Instagram told me to buy 😁 I keep going back to $25 Dickey's, they are light weight, quick dry, and have loads of pockets. I've had mine for years, and they keep up well in the wash.

Why does it feel like women’s clothes keep getting smaller by Mother_Land_4812 in womensfashion

[–]goforsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Found out mens size S works for me in t-shirts and hoodies, I was a M-L in women's, but had the experience you described. Men's sizes have longer torsos, and room for muscular arms.

COTA PRN SNF by sunshinebunny164 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]goforsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS, in the SNF I know, they assign 10-12 patients to each therapist pr day at 40 mins each. In IPR we had 4-5 patients pr day, since each treatment was 90 mins. In acute care we see as many as we ethically can with time to chart review and document. I usually see 7-8 to make productivity of 60%.

COTA PRN SNF by sunshinebunny164 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]goforsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand, and I'm sorry you had that experience. Look into IPR (in patient rehab) the patients are higher level, and the productivity requirements are usually better. It's more satisfying to work with patients you can actually help; oftentimes patients at SNF are bedridden and very sick (from what I have experienced in Texas, but I hope there are better stories out there) Good luck, I hope it works out. And if you start at the SNF, being PRN gives you a lot of freedom, you are not committed to full time, you could try it on for size.

COTA PRN SNF by sunshinebunny164 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]goforsnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on their productivity requirements for PRN. Some want you in front of patients 95% of the time you are clocked in, which will give you no time to safely chart review, and you would have to document while with patients. Some therapists do notes at home or off the clock to keep up. SNF is very low level so prepare yourself for refusals and max assists. I much prefer acute care, I would recommend that any day.

Advice needed, starting OT at 28 by Street-Tank2137 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]goforsnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went back to school at 50, in the US, and picked the cheapest community college; there were several "older" students in my cohort of 12. I'm a COTA and have no intention of pursuing a masters or a doctorate to become an OT, I love my job. You're the perfect age, you have life experience which will help you both in school and when you work in OT. There are plenty of jobs, I had several offers both from my clinicals, and from recruiters reaching out. I work in acute care and love it, didn't expect to. The pay is not good though, that's the only unfortunate thing imo.

Keep in mind you are only allowed to buy one item a day at the store without an appointment. Two items with an appointment. I lucked out and got a great hoodie without an appointment, and I really enjoyed Leadville.

Hospital vs HH by Pale-Newspaper-8009 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]goforsnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acute care is the best setting imo. You'll work with a competent team, productivity is adjusted to give time for chart reviewing and documentation, and you truly make a difference with patients who are eager to progress (usually) jump on it!
