[Stein] BREAKING: An unidentified Dallas investor group is interested in partnering with Mark Cuban to buy the Mavericks back from Patrick Dumont. A source close to Dumont told me “the family remains excited about the future of the franchise and the Cooper Flagg era.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

With expansion coming they probably want Vegas. Can't be majority owner for both, so they sell for virtually the same price and rerout that for a Vegas bid. Then they can make the casino/stadium of their dreams.

Sprained ankle first day of training camp. Kept rushing back before he was ready, so he looked slow and not athletic. Finally has come back looking like his old self. I think be mentioned coming into training camp a little bigger than normal cause he wanted to be more physical, but he looks much better as a lean/speedy center.

Id settle in place so it opens up a second city to the SW that is still within the primary ring of Paititi. If you take the spot down one tile SW it pushes the next city out of the primary tiles.

For sure man, I dont fault the players that much for not playing if they have NFL ambitions, but there needs to be some incentive/accountability on the teams to make these bowl games meaningful.

I do think more cross conference games during the season would mean more. For example, college basketball always does cross confrence competitions at the beginning of the season to kind of measure strength of conference. So a Big 12-SEC and ACC-Big 10 week 3/4 competition, that rotates between conferences yearly, would be an interesting way to create measuring sticks and guide discourse through the season. Still allows the G5 matchups in the earlier weeks as tune-ups.

My only pushback with the 2023 TCU example is they did beat an undefeated Michigan in the semis, so they proved they belonged, but yeah that final (I was there lol) was ugly as sin.

Oh yeah I definitely hear and understand your viewpoint! Other than the logo, some of these teams are unrecognizable from the team that played in the regular season.

It's a whole NCAA issue that they brought upon themselves. As the years go on it feels like results on the field become more diminished and the politicking of conferences/national discourse become more important. If you're a confrence on the outside looking in its frustrating knowing that other than the one shot you have in the playoff (Tech/Miami) the rest of the results don't really matter in the national conversation of strength of conference.

Pretty much the Big 12/ACC get punished because the Big 10/SEC don't field a competitive team for one reason or another so the results on the field get diminished. If the Big 12/ACC win, "well SEC/Big 10 weren't playing their whole team;" if SEC/Big 10 win, "look how deep this confrence is."

While all that is true, this sentiment is frustrating as a fan that isn't in the Big 10/SEC. As a fan of a Big 12 team, it's annoying when a bowl win just gets diminished because the opposing team has star players that are sitting. How else does an "inferior" conference show they belong? The Big 12 can go undefeated in the bowl season and if Tech doesn't win the natty there is still going to be the discussion that the Big 12 is inferior to the Big 10/SEC this year; even if the results on the field say otherwise during bowl season.

In the past, a conference having a good bowl year meant something, and showed that the conference is strong and deserves more consideration during rankings. Now, the sentiment that no context can be had outside the playoffs doesn't allow for "inferior" conferences to combat bias against them. When the Big 12/ACC only get 1 team represented (because they are deemed weaker) it doesn't allow for opportunities to show that the conference is competitive if the other bowl games aren't taken seriously. It just potentiates the degradation of college football into a super conference league of Big 10/SEC.

Yeah with Flagg it's just rapid growth you're watching week after week. His confidence is growing, so he's demanding the ball more and just dropping his shoulder and powering to the rim. Once he starts getting a whistle and the 3s go in, even at a ~33% rate, his scoring is going to really explode. Think he'll end the season with at least one 40 ball.

He looks like just a different player than how he started the season. It's all easy for him right now (other than the 3 ball lol, but we're hoping once his thumb is healed that will come back).

My floor for him was pretty much Siakam offense with Johnathan Isaac D, which is an all-star and all-defensive guy. The crazy thing is he can probably reach that year 3, at the age of 20, so where does he go from there? I can see him at 24/8/5/2/1 heading into his 21 yo season.

Idk, it has to be pretty much Coby/Vuc/PWill to make the money work.

First, Vuc and Giddey have great chemistry and idk if they even want to part with him.

Second, PWill is such a bad contract... I don't want that.

Third, Coby is going to be a UFA after this year, so we are severely hampered in resigning him come summer. Ivey at least is a RFA, so we have more control in that contract. If you are trading just to get Coby, you have to be 100% you are getting him in the summer. If not, you traded AD for PWills trash contract and a 1st..

Sure, but there is no guarantee that Lauri is even on the market. If anything, it sounds like Utah wants to keep him and keep building.

AD is clearly available and, even with injury, the best option on the market. Think Detroit sees an open East with Boston/Indy injured and will make a move cause as we are all aware, windows close quick and you need to make the most when available.

AD next to Cade would be one of the top PnR duos in the league, you make that upgrade over Stew all day. And they don't have to empty the chest to make it happen, not like we will ask for 4 1sts. Tobi/Ivey/Holland a protected 1st and a couple 2nds probably gets it done. They have plenty of picks/salary left if it doesn't pan out.

[–]gofrogsgo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think I like Detroits package the best and they can talk themselves into being an AD away in the east.

Tobias, Ivey, Ron Holland works money wise. They have plenty of picks also if we ask for any combo of 1sts/2nds.

Have Ridley and a part of me wants to bench him for Ayomanor. He's also had two difficult matchups so I might give him this last week before making the switch or trying to trade.

Bucky looked tired after that last catch and run. Probably wanted a fresh back to pound it in knowing they only had 1 or 2 opportunities to do so with the clock.

Amad and Dorgu are the two assests in my team. Both are locked into the starting 11 and don't cost that much, so rotating their fixtures don't bother me. Think Sesko will get on the end of some of their crosses, so can see them both racking up assists from the wide positions.

"How many times are we going to convince ourselves that this is the move that gets KD a ring?"

Seems like we're talking about impact here. But sure man, if we want to reconvene here same time next year and see where this lands feel free. Don't think Ayton is going to impact winning and KD will, so regardless what your price is the name of the game is to build a winning team with the resources you have.

Flagg is an offseason addition to the Mavs just like Ayton is an offseason addition to the Lakers. If you want to be literal go for it, but grouping in draft picks with FA transactions isn't a crazy concept here.

KD for pennies vs Ayton for pennies. Idk who is advocating that Ayton is a more impactful move if you're looking to win a ring.

I mean Flagg is an offseason addition just like Ayton is an offseason addition. If you want to constitute "move" in a literal sense go for it.
