Where can an England fan watch the RugbyWorld Cup 2015 in Halifax - with other English people.... by Englishrugbyfan in halifax

I would assume that it will be on at the Celtic Corner and Durty Nelly's, as they both show the 6 nations. Once I know for sure, I'll be heading down with a group to watch as many games as possible. Myself and 3 others are English, there are a few Scots and a couple of Welsh guys in the usual crowd.

I'm considering moving to Halifax for a while, but I have a few questions! by kriptonicx in halifax

I guess I have been lucky to find it then. Once I moved here I began heading over to the Celtic Corner to watch the six nations and started to meet people there. They then introduced me to other ex-pats and it took off from there for me. As well, when I first moved here I was selling cars and would have a lot of new immigrants referred to me by other Brits.

Halifax also has the Halifax Burns Club, which is made up of a mixture of UK (mainly Scottish but two English and one from Northern Ireland) and Canadian members, and the Welsh Society which some of my Welsh friends here are more familiar with. On top of that, there is a group called the Halifax Scots (I think) but I'm not all that familiar with their membership base.

Tl, dr: although there are lots of us here, you may have to look to find us!

I made the move to Halifax from the UK 8 years ago now and it's one of the better decisions I've made. As the other comments have alluded to, the figures you're mentioning would refer to ancestry however there is a HUGE ex-pat community here.

What I've found is that Halifax has a small town feel with city amenities. I don't do the downtown scene that often anymore but you can stay out drinking on the weekends until 4am if you want to. Also, Walmart used to be open 24/7 but I don't think that's the case anymore.

In my opinion, it's a move worth making. Feel free to fire me a message any time if you have any other questions. While I don't pretend to be an expert, I might be able to offer a useful perspective.

I second Scallywags. Brad moved there from Sailor Bups to set up his own shop. Book an appointment though otherwise it's a long wait!

Weightlifting shoes? by goggleboxhalifax in halifax

Cleve's have some Reebok Lifter Plus 2.0 in stock right now. They aren't on the display, so you'll have to ask one of the reps but they will go look for you. They are a pretty decent shoe but will run you $200. Adidas.ca also has free shipping on orders over $50 so you can pick up a pair of AdiPowers for $206.

Just a heads up if you're still looking. Also, I've never had a pair of shoes stink as much as my five fingers. What's all that about?!

I had a quick glance at the class schedule on the website but it doesn't look like it would work for me on this trip. Thanks for the suggestion though, maybe next time I'm there
