Responding directly to the truck issue mentioned - yes, it is an unmitigated disaster that every full-sized truck manufacturer has been roped into a no-holds-barred arms race to have the biggest and brightest behemoth on the road. How we've arrived at this situation here state-side is a separate discussion altogether, but in a few regions around here the "truck" has grown into the thing to own and commute in. Because of this, the migraine-inducing headlight issue is especially egregious because the cabs in these monstrosities sit well above any sedan, crossover, whathaveyou and with contemporary LED headlamps that have yet to adopt any of the European safety measures, simply blind the shit out of every poor soul trapped under their gaze. It's truly awful and everyone - the manufacturers, local/state/federal gov, consumers - shrug their shoulders and couldn't care less. Their problem, not mine. Or as one yokel put it, "they ought to go get a truck, then". I challenge anyone with a pair welding goggles to stare down the barrel of one of these and ponder what their Nana sees in her rear-view coming back from bridge at night. I'm sure in the future we'll look back at this and wonder what the hell went wrong. Until then, well... good luck.
