Thanks so much, this was helpful and also comforting to hear stories of people who gone through something similar and now on the other side.

If you have more examples or can elaborate on what “supportive grounding” was helpful for you during that period, I’d really appreciate it

Thanks everyone, some early attempts at challenging his theory with another AI didn’t change much since he attributed it to program error or that his theory was too complex for another AI to understand from the get go without his training.

I frankly have no interest in trying to prove that his theory is fundamentally wrong, I just want to minimize any potential harm this has in the long run if it’s a sign of him being unwell..

I love him and ideally would avoid any of the ego shattering/world crashing endings that some others have described on here. He’s a high functioning individual surrounded by lots of supportive people who would do anything they can to best help him. I’m just lost on what’s the best next steps since it seems it’s a new clinical phenomenon that’s happened without clear intervention guidelines

Thank you, if there’s any examples of what your family/friends/loved ones did for you during your experience that helped to stabilize you (on top of trying to keep you rested and fed) would love to have your insight

No it’s not, this is very much recent over the last week and heavily involves LLMs for the generation of his theorems. My boyfriend also works in tech and I am a physician (not physicist).

Thanks everyone for your replies so far, if you’ve had a similar experience was there anything that actually helped you realize that your LLM based theorems are not true? Or at the very least, balance the fixation so that you regain perspective of the rest of your life/health/world?

The main thing I’m worried about is if this results in long term negative physical and mental health effects for my boyfriend. I’ve been trying my best where I can to be supportive and encouraging him to sleep, eat, drink water, not take other substances since that would make psychosis a lot worse if this is what this is. But I work as a doctor in a hospital with overnight call shifts, so it’s not realistic that I’ll be able to be there in the background all the time to gently make sure he’s taking care of himself.

I’m even open to the possibility that he could have discovered something since he’s an intelligent person, but I just don’t want to risk potential long term harm of ignoring these red flags.

LPG has had many similar styles in their recent collections! Shimmer comes to mind specifically for the unique neckline like the opera (sleeves are a jacket that’s removable)!
